This widget is available for both web and mobile devices.

Introduction:

The Up Next Activity widget is a dashboard feature that has been designed to encourage user engagement by suggesting activities to your end users. This feature enables them to have a clear roadmap of activities they need to complete. It can be configured in a linear or randomized order.

Upon completion of all recommended activities, the Next Activity widget has the option to recommend completed activities at random in order to encourage users to engage with the app.

Example use cases where the Up Next Activity Widget is useful:

  • Recommend educational lessons or modules that need to be preferably completed in a linear order

  • Display key activities at random that are required to be completed to obtain in-app virtual goods such as badges

Web:

How to set it up

  1. First, go to the app's Creator > Dashboard menu and add the "Up Next Activity" widget by clicking on the "Add Widget button"

  2. Scroll down to the widget's settings within the Dashboard tab, then select activities that you'd like to include in the widget by clicking on Select Activities. These will be recommended to users.

  3. Configure the activity that will be shown in a linear order. Tick the randomized option if you wish this to be shown to your users in a non-linear order.

  4. Lastly, configure what will happen after a user has completed all activities

    1. Show a completed message to inform them that they have completed all the set activities

    2. Repeat activities again (but will be marked as completed)

  5. Once finished, save changes and test from your app.

Note: For optimal widget testing, it's recommended to set up a dedicated test account. If you've previously previewed the activities, they will be marked as completed and won't appear in the Up Next widget.

Set delay time

You can set a delay time for the next activity to be available once an activity is completed. Depending on the purpose of the app, it will create a sense of anticipation until the next activity is available thus developing engagement and motivation.

An example use case:

A fitness application offers daily workout routines and incorporates a timer delay functionality to daily activities to help users cultivate enduring exercise habits.

How to set up a time delay

  1. Go to app Creator>Dashboard tab and scroll down to the Up Next Activity settings

  2. Select multiple activities that you want to recommend to users

(skip this step if you already have selected the activities)

  3. Click the set delay time button, and add the time (in minutes) until the next activity will be available after the completion of that corresponding activity.

  4. Save changes.
