How to Review, Edit and Approve Feedback in CoGrader

Review each student's grade and feedback, edit it (changes save automatically), restore earlier versions, and approve it when it's ready to share.

Written by Gabriel Chi

After CoGrader grades your class, open any student's work on the assignment page to review their score and feedback. You decide what students see: edit anything, ask CoGrader to rewrite it, then approve it and share.

Open a student's feedback

  1. Open the assignment from Classes and click a student's row in the submissions table.

  2. The feedback page opens with the student's essay and the feedback tabs Feedback, Grammar and Originality.

See the original document

Above the student's essay, use the View toggle. Choose Text to see the text CoGrader graded, or Original to see the file exactly as the student submitted it.

Tip: If the original doesn't load, try a hard reload or an incognito window. See How to Hard Reload & Clear Cache.

Edit the feedback

Click into any part of the feedback and type. Your changes save automatically (AutoSave), so there is no Save button to click. You can edit feedback even after a submission is reviewed.

Restore an earlier version (Version history)

Open Version history to see earlier versions of this student's feedback and restore one if you change your mind.

Ask CoGrader to change the feedback

In the instruction box, type what you want, for example "Make it shorter" or "Be stricter", or click one of the suggestion chips (Make it shorter, Be stricter, Translate to, Use Gen Alpha slang, Accommodate SLD:). Prefer to talk? Click the microphone (Dictate) and say your instruction.

For applying a change to one student or several, see How to Add Additional Grading Instructions Using the Chat Option.

Note: Running the same instruction again can give slightly different wording. That's expected.

Mark as Reviewed, and undo it if needed

When the feedback is ready, click Mark as reviewed.

To undo the approval, go back to the assignment page, tick the checkboxes next to the submissions you want (or the top checkbox for all), and click Unmark selected as reviewed.

Check for updates vs Share feedback

  • Check for updates (formerly Sync) pulls new or changed student work from your school platform, for example, a late or resubmitted Google Classroom essay. It does not send anything to students.

  • Share feedback sends grades and feedback to students or downloads them. You can click it on the assignment page or right on the feedback page.

If you share again after editing, the new feedback replaces what students had before.
