Comic Creators: Growing Your Audience
Comic Creators: Growing Your Audience
Updated over 7 months ago

Getting exposure for your comics is challenging, especially when you're competing with many hundreds of comics each month. Fortunately, the League of Comic Geeks platform is a great way to grow your audience. Here are some best practices to do so:

Share early art, scripts or other great content in a Community Post: Build buzz around your upcoming release with excerpts, previews, and other teasers.

Not seeing your posts trend for long or at all?

  • Sometimes sharing a preview or teaser doesn't create much engagement. Create conversation by leaving questions or other things for the community to discuss in the comments.

  • Where possible, limit your use of external links to ease concerns over where that link might take users and inform the League algorithm your content is safe.

  • The League algorithm also favors content that performs well with users outside of your bubble. Sometimes engaging with users in other reviews, discussions, or creating your own can help improve your other content's impact. Plus, it can be a great way to get your name out there.

Maintain your comic and series listings: Ensuring your comics have accurate final order cutoff and release information can help comic buyers know when to order your book from their LCS. Additionally, you'll want to select the right themes and genres for your series to help our search and discovery tools promote your books where appropriate.

Update your creator profile: Expand upon your creator page on the League with information about your other works and add a professional photo to help others recognize and remember you.

Boost your League listings on other social media: When discussing your comic on other social media platforms, make sure to share links to the comic or series in your post. Informing your existing audience of its listing on the League can help boost visibility and engagement that they bring to related content.

With all of that said, set realistic expectations for yourself and your comics. The League cannot be the only place you're leveraging to garner an audience. Not every comic or creator is going to set the world on fire and that's okay. Keep at it!
