Create Campaign Strategy Using Campaign Optimizer
Creating a Campaign Strategy using Campaign Optimizer can be categorized into stages as explained below.
Access Strategy Creation
In order to create a new optimized strategy, users will have to click Create strategy via the Campaign Optimizer dashboard.
The top row displays the number of automation rules in use for each objective.
A snapshot of each strategy can be viewed using the maximize widget within the list of strategies.
Steps of Strategy Creation
Let's navigate through the six elements of creating a campaign strategy:
Objective
The landing page displayed shares the first step of the strategy creation process; Defining the business objective to be achieved by deploying the campaign strategy.
Currently, the tool offers a comprehensive list of business objectives.
You can choose ONLY one objective for a strategy.
The strategy name can be defined on the top left corner of the page and a description can also be added below.
After users select an objective, they can proceed to the next step by clicking Next.
Defining the strategy objective does not impact its implementation in any way, rather it helps categorize and manage rules in an efficient manner.
Scope
Defining the scope of the strategy helps you define the items that are impacted by the strategy.
A strategy can be applied to specific campaigns, keywords, search terms or SKUs.
You can click and select any item to define the strategy application scope.
Additionally, you can define specific target areas to be covered within the strategy using filters. Multiple filters can be used to specify the category of items on which the strategy needs to focus.
Filters can only be added for all SKUs/keywords/campaigns within the selected campaigns.
Condition
Defining the condition for the strategy helps you to define conditions that when fulfilled will enable the strategy to be executed.
Conditions can be defined using Add Filters. The filters consist of categorization and expressions based on metrics. Multiple conditions can be added using the filters.
A sample expression is shown
Actions
In the Actions section you can define the actions to be taken when the conditions or expressions defined are fulfilled.
Time Period
Setting the time period of the strategy defines the dates when the strategy will be active. Start time is when CIQ will run the strategy. End date is when CIQ will pause the strategy.
To ensure Campaign Optimizer strategies continue to run, it is recommended as a best practice to leave the end date to the default No Date.
Review & Save
Review helps you to simulate the strategy using Simulate Strategy and see the results before implementing it on live data. The results of the simulation are emailed to you within minutes.
Once satisfied you can save the strategy using Prioritise and Save.
Once a strategy is saved it appears on the home page under the Strategies section.
Saved Strategies
Some strategies that have been saved but have not been put into action yet can be looked up using View saved drafts. A strategy can be paused or archived by hovering over Live and clicking on Archived.
Strategies by default are displayed as a Universal list. Strategies can also be displayed as Group by action type to organize live strategies based on the type of actions they are implementing across campaigns and entities.
