2. Methodology

Let's take a closer look at the elements of Budget Optimizer.

A Budget Plan is a prerequisite to be uploaded in the BO product.

Note: In this case a budget plan is already uploaded , hence we see the Edit Budget Plan button.

Click Edit Budget Plan for defining a budget plan. This leads the user to the page where a budget plan is available for further customizations.

In case of non availability of a plan ; a fresh budget plan should be uploaded using the budget plan template. Users can either download the plan template, make changes to it and then upload it back.

Users are led to this page on clicking Edit Budget Plan from the Budget Optimizer home page.

The plan name can be edited from the top left corner of the page. A description can be added for the budget plan below it.

Instruction Page – The page outlines the instructions to update the budget planner

Budget Plan Details – The page outlines the budget allocated across profiles and portfolios across months. The template shows the profiles and the respective portfolios. Rest highlights campaigns which are not mapped to any portfolio. Total highlights the sum of all values across portfolios in each profile.

Values can be entered across cells defining the budget allocated for spend across months. Once finalized the sheet is saved and uploaded back.

Click Preview to preview the budget distribution across profiles and portfolios and verify the values entered in the sheet.

Click Next to proceed.

The graph shows the budget allocation across time periods spread in form of peaks and troughs. The peaks and troughs show the increase and decrease in spend respectively.

Based on the historical data and Day of Week Seasonality, Day of Month Seasonality, and CPC throughout the budget allocation is defined across.

The budget allocation for a day is shown below for the entire business.

The budget allocation for a day is shown below for a selected portfolio.

Users can reserve some budget for certain key events when the traffic is high. These specific events can be added using Add event.

Users can define these special events across the scope of their run duration and the percentage of budget allocated.

Users can click Update Plan once all edits are finalized and the budget is ready.
