Welcome to the Connecterra Platform! In this article we'll guide you through the key features and show you how to use them to support your work.
We'll cover:
Getting started with the Farm Timeline
Keep a record of events on the farm and quantify their impact on metrics
The Farm Timeline displays events and changes on the farm in chronological order, supporting record keeping and providing context for better analysis. Some events are added automatically, for example, when you give feedback on an Insight. We also automatically add ration changes from specific feed software*. You can add events manually to keep a record and understand how changes you make impact key metrics.
Add events to track changes
Want to better understand the impact of your interventions? Start tracking how changes you make impact behavior, production and feed metrics.
Click the Add event button at the top of the timeline or the + button in the lower-right corner
Select the type of change and the date when it happened
Save the event and it will be added to your farm timeline
The app will now start tracking how this change impacts key metrics, such as milk production, dry matter intake, eating and ruminating time, and more. The first results will be ready after 3 days, followed by 1, 2 and 4 weeks. You can easily review them from the Farm Timeline section of the overview dashboard. Simply click on the event to view tracking results.
*We’re currently automatically adding ration change events from EZfeed to the Farm Timeline and working on adding more integrations.
Setting up Insights
Get alerted of changes in key metrics so you never miss a thing
The app monitors your key metrics around the clock so you can get ahead of potential issues. Activate alerts for the metrics most relevant to you to get notified of significant changes.
Go to the Insights page and click Activate insight
Select the metric you want to track and set up the lower and upper thresholds
Click Activate insight
Go to Settings>Notifications and turn on push and/or email notifications to receive alerts on your devices
If the value goes below or above the threshold you set, you’ll get a notification, so you can address potential issues as soon as they arise. You can open the insight details from the Overview dashboard and provide feedback on the potential cause of the change. This will be added as an event on the Farm Timeline.
Getting started with Analytics charts
Analyze and compare farm metrics to spot trends, issues and opportunities
On the Analytics page you will start with some default dashboards with key metrics available on your farm, such as Behavior, Production, Reproduction, Feed, Health, Weather etc. You can explore the available charts by navigating through the dashboards using the tabs at the top. You can customize these dashboards by adding or removing charts, or create new dashboards to save the metrics most relevant for you in a single place.
Create a new dashboard
Want to create a dashboard for specific pens or groups you want to keep a closer eye on?
Click the + button next to the list of existing dashboards to create a new dashboard
Enter a name for your dashboard, for example Fresh cows
Click Add chart and select a metric, for example Milk yield per day
Select to filter per DIM group and select the fresh cows groups
Click Save to dashboard
You can continue by adding other relevant metrics to this dashboard, so you can easily access them all on one page.
Add metrics to a default dashboard
Prefer to start from the existing dashboards and make changes to tailor them to your needs?
Navigate to a dashboard using the tabs at the top and Click Add chart
Select a metric and a timeframe
Configure filters to view data per pens, groups, lactation stages, etc.
Click Save to dashboard
