Setting a Preferred Payment Profile

Easily manage your preferred payment method

Overview

Feature Summary: Learn how to set a member’s preferred payment method, and how members can manage it themselves.

Use Cases: Set your preferred payment profile to choose a preselected payment method, and specify which profile should be used for auto-pay features like batch billing and membership auto-pay.

Prerequisites

In order to save and set preferred payment profiles, your organization must be integrated with one of our Integrated Payment Providers.


How to Set a Preferred Payment Profile

Admin Steps to Manually Set a Preferred Payment Profile:

1. Navigate to a user’s Member Profile and go to the Billing > Payment Profiles tab.

2. If the Player/Member does not have a Payment Profile created and you need to manually enter the information, click Create Payment Profile, and click the checkbox next to Set Preferred Payment Profile, enter the data, and click Save Changes.

3. If the Player/Member already has a Payment Profile created, click the three vertical dots next to the payment profile and select Set Preferred. You will be promted to Confirm.

  • If the selected payment profile is already the preferred, the Set Preferred option will be hidden.

Admin Steps to Set Preferred Payment Profile During Creation:

  1. Navigate to a user’s Member Profile and go to the Billing > Payment Profiles tab.

  2. Click “Create Payment Profile”.

  3. Enter the payment information and check the “Set Preferred Payment Profile” option.

    • If the user does not have any saved payment profiles, this checkbox is hidden, and the payment profile is automatically set as preferred.

Player/Member Steps to Manually Set a Preferred Payment Profile:

  1. On the Member Portal: The player/member will hover over their name and select the Payment Profiles tab.

  2. On the Mobile App: The player/member will tap More in the bottom right corner and select Payment Profiles.

  3. The player/member will click Set Preferred on the desired payment profile.

    • If the selected payment profile is already the preferred, the Set Preferred option will be hidden.

Player/Member Steps to Set Preferred Payment Profile During Account Creation:

  1. On the Member Portal: The player/member will hover over their name and select the Payment Profiles tab.

  2. On the Mobile App: The player/member will tap More in the bottom right corner of the app and select Payment Profiles.

  3. The player/member will click Create Payment Profile.

  4. They will enter the payment information and check the Set Preferred Payment Profile checkbox.

    • If the player/member does not have any saved payment profiles, this checkbox is hidden, and the payment profile is automatically set as preferred.

Batch Billing - Payment Profile Priority Logic

When using the Batch Billing add-on, admins can select a Payment Profile Priority, which determines the order in which the system attempts to charge a user’s payment profiles. This is set on the admin panel under TRANSACTIONS > BATCH BILLING. Learn more here.

  • If a user has both payment profile types, the system will always attempt to charge the admin-selected Payment Profile Priority first, even if the user has a different preferred payment profile set.

  • If the user does not have a payment profile of the selected priority, the system will fall back to the user's preferred payment profile.

  • If the user has multiple payment profiles of the selected Payment Profile Priority, the system will attempt to charge the preferred payment profile within that priority type.
