INTRODUCTION

  • Feature Summary: Enable Interac Debit payments for your Canada-based organization, providing your customers with flexible payment options. A Stripe Canada account must be set up as your payment processor.

  • Use Cases: Members can use Interac debit cards for a variety of transactions, including paying fees, purchasing point-of-sale items, and adding credit to their CourtReserve accounts.

PREREQUISITES

A Stripe Canada account is required, along with a supported Stripe terminal. View compatible terminal options here.

OVERVIEW

This article outlines how to enable Interac Debit and highlights the key areas within CourtReserve where it can be used.

Here’s how players can use Interac Debit:

  • In-Person Payments:
Players can pay using their Interac Debit card when physically present at the club by tapping or inserting their card on the Stripe terminal.

  • In-Person Refunds:
Refunds can be issued directly back to a player’s Interac Debit card, provided the card is present and processed through the Stripe terminal at the time of refund.

  • Saving Co-Branded Cards:
If a player uses a co-branded debit card (e.g., Interac + Visa or Interac + Mastercard), they can securely save this card to their CourtReserve payment profile.

    • In this case, transactions are processed over the Visa or Mastercard network, enabling online payments and stored card functionality.

SETUP REQUIREMENTS

Step 1: Enable Interac Debit in CourtReserve.

  1. Log in to the admin dashboard.

  2. Go to the side menu and click SETTINGS > go to the BILLING SETTINGS row.

  3. Click the Integrated Payments icon.

  4. Locate the Enable Interac Debit payment type checkbox. Check to enable.

  5. Click Save.

On the Integrated Payments screen, under the Allowed Payment Types section, the Interac Debit checkbox will now appear checked.

Things to Note:

  • To view Stripe’s processing fees for Interac Debit card-present and card-not-present transactions, scroll to the bottom of the chart here.

  • Interac Debit is natively supported by Stripe Canada and does not need to be added to the Stripe Default Payment Options list on the Stripe dashboard.

Payment Processing via Terminal

Once enabled, system users can process Interac Debit cards for a variety of transactions. Wherever the Pay button is available in CourtReserve, Credit Card / Interac Debit (via Terminal) will be listed as a Payment Type option for system users to process payments. Once selected and system users click CONFIRM & PAY, players will tap or swipe their card via the terminal.

After the charge is processed, the Payment Type in the player's transaction history will appear as Interac Debit.

Player receipts will indicate payment made via Interac Debit.

Preload Credit

Players can use their Interac Debit card in person at the club to preload credit to their CourtReserve account.

Refunds

Refunds can be returned to a player’s Interac Debit card when the card is physically present and processed through the Stripe terminal during the refund transaction. Select Refund Destination of Interac Debit and have the player tap or insert their card to issue the refund.

Note: CourtReserve’s auto-refund feature is not supported for Interac Debit card transactions.

From Transactions > Refunds, system users can view pending, accepted, or declined Interac Debit refunds under the Payment Type column.

When accepting a pending refund, Interac Debit is an option for Refund Destination.

Reports

The following reports will reflect transactions made using Interac Debit.

Note: If a player has saved a co-branded Interac Debit card (e.g., Interac + Visa or Mastercard) as their preferred payment method, those online transactions are processed through the Visa or Mastercard network and will appear in reports as “Credit Card.”

1. Transactions List

System users can select Refund - Interac Debit under the Transaction Types column and/or Interac Debit transactions under the Payment Types column.

2. Payment Summary

The Payment Summary report displays Payment Type of Interac Debit and includes a checkbox to Include Interac Debits Refunds.

3. End of Day

The EOD (End of Day) Report displays Interac Debit and Interac Debit Refunds.

4. Sales Summary

System users can select Interac Debit transactions under the Payment Types column and/or Refund - Interac Debit under the Transaction Types column.

5. Daily Revenue

Interac Debit will display under the Payment Summary portion of the Daily Revenue report.

PLAYER PERSPECTIVE

From the player's CourtReserve account, if they paid via Interac Debit at the club, they will see it listed under Billing - Transaction Details - Payments.

If a player’s online payment method is a co-branded Interac Debit card (e.g., Interac + Visa or Mastercard), the transaction will be processed through the Visa or Mastercard network and will appear in reports as “Credit Card.”
