This guide provides important information for clubs considering or using Brivo access control systems, specifically for outdoor environments and system setup.
What Are the Best Options for Outdoor Access Control, Considering Power and Wi-Fi Needs?
For outdoor access control where reliable internet may be a challenge, Brivo offers a practical solution that eliminates the need for Wi-Fi. Brivo’s Cellular Network Module operates through Verizon’s network and is available at a discounted rate as part of a Brivo cellular plan.
Recommended Outdoor Setup:
ACS300 Small Controller, paired with
Brivo Cellular Network Module
For outdoor environments, this equipment should be housed in a climate-controlled enclosure (such as a NEMA box), connected to a cellular router if network connectivity is needed, and installed at the court with access to power.
This setup is ideal for remote or outdoor locations where standard internet or network access may not be reliable.
For more details, refer to the Brivo Cellular Network Module documentation.
Seasonal Deactivation (e.g., Winter Shutdown)
Brivo does not offer a built-in seasonal mode to temporarily disable access control systems.
Optional Manual Deactivation:
While not officially recommended, systems can be manually deactivated by requesting that the reader be removed from the account.
As long as the reader remains offline, billing to the reseller should stop.
Note: Not all resellers may agree to this or follow the same policy, so it's important to confirm with each one individually.
Installation & Setup Responsibility

All wiring and hardware installation
Managing the physical setup of the access control system onsite
