INTRODUCTION

Feature Summary: Canadian clubs can now accept Interac Debit payments through Stripe. Clubs currently using SafeSave/PaySafe will need to switch to Stripe to take advantage of this option. This transition provides seamless, secure payment processing while unlocking Interac Debit for in-person transactions.

Use Cases:

  • Clubs in Canada currently using SafeSave/PaySafe who want to accept Interac Debit through CourtReserve and need to transition to Stripe for payment processing.

OVERVIEW

In Canada, SafeSave and PaySafe work together but handle different parts of the payment process:

  • SafeSave connects your system to the payment network (the technical side).

  • PaySafe processes the actual payments and financial transactions.

SafeSave stores your payment profiles — often called the "vault." When switching to Stripe to enable Interac Debit, clubs can choose to transfer their stored payment details from SafeSave to Stripe. If they opt not to transfer the vault, Stripe will start with no saved payment profiles, and members will need to re-enter their payment information.

SETUP REQUIREMENTS

1. Set Up Your Stripe Account

  • Create a Stripe account if you don’t already have one.

  • Be sure to mention to Stripe that you are transitioning from SafeSave and request their guidance on the migration.

2. Contact SafeSave

  • You will need to initiate the vault transfer with SafeSave.

  • Confirm with SafeSave whether your vault contains stored payment profiles — some systems send full card information with every transaction and may not store records within SafeSave.

  • If SafeSave confirms there are no vault records, you can skip the vault transfer process.

3. Complete the Vault Transfer (if applicable)

  • Stripe completes the import of payment profiles from SafeSave. Let the CourtReserve team know when this is finished via live chat or email.

  • CourtReserve will process the imported data within 3 business days of receiving it from Stripe.

  • This step is optional - if you opt not to transfer the vault, Stripe will start with no saved payment profiles, and your members will need to re-enter their payment information.

4. Notify CourtReserve Customer Success

  • Let the CourtReserve team know you’re ready to switch your payment provider to Stripe via live chat or email.

  • The CourtReserve team will unlock your payment provider key in CourtReserve so you can update your settings.

5. Switch to Stripe in CourtReserve

  • Once your Stripe account is ready and the CourtReserve Customer Success team unlocks your key, update your payment provider in CourtReserve.

  • You can do this before or after the vault transfer. Just note that if you switch before the transfer, members will need to re-enter payment details temporarily.

6. Final Checks and Communication

  • Once the process is complete, inform your members and staff as needed.

  • Payments made to your old payment provider cannot be refunded through CourtReserve after the switch. If refunds are required for payments made to SafeSave, they must be handled outside of CourtReserve.
