INTRODUCTION
Feature Summary: View, edit, and create Event Categories to organize your programming and improve event management in CourtReserve.
Use Cases: When system users create a new event, they must assign it to an Event Category. Understanding and using categories effectively helps:
Organize events by type or program focus
Improve internal reporting and analytics
Align event labels with your club’s unique offerings (e.g., Adult Clinics, Junior Programs, Social Mixers)
CourtReserve includes default categories out of the box, but system users can create custom ones to reflect the specific services, programs, or facilities available at their organization.
SETUP REQUIREMENTS
Log in to the admin dashboard.
Click SETTINGS on the side menu.
Scroll down to the EVENT SETTINGS row.
Click the Event Categories icon.
Create an Event Category
Click the Create Event Category button.
Name: Enter a name for the Event Category. Note: This is a high-level category used to group related events—not the name of an individual event.
Bg. Color: Select a background color. (optional)
Text Color: Select a text color. (optional)
Is Active: Select this option to mark the Event Category as active and available for use within the CourtReserve platform.
Is Public: Select this option to make the Event Category visible to players on the member-facing side of CourtReserve.
Revenue Category: Assign a Revenue Category to this Event Category.
Tax Rate: Assign a Tax Rate to this Event Category.
Click Save.
When selecting colors in CourtReserve, you can choose from a wide variety of options or enter a specific HEX code to match your Club's branding.
Clicking the artist palette icon, as shown below, will display a simplified selection of color options.
Managing Event Categories
CourtReserve displays category names in a table. Use table tools to change the display.
Click the grabber and move a row to a different location.
Click a sort icon to change the list order based on category Name or Is Public status. (see below)
Click Edit to update an existing category.
Click Delete to remove a row from the table.
Filtering by Name
If the Event Categories table has many rows, the Name filter can save time. Click the icon, fill in the required fields, and select a filtering option on the drop-down menu.
Filtering by Public Status
Use this tool to show or hide rows based on their public status. The options are is true (public) and is false (not public).
USER PERSPECTIVE
On the Member Portal, players can filter the display of events with the Categories check boxes.
ADMIN PERSPECTIVE
An Event Category is assigned to each event as follows:
Use Event Category tags to organize and filter information across CourtReserve. For example, system users can apply categories to streamline reporting and data management. In the below example, the Event Summary will be run for only Adult Clinics.
