INTRODUCTION

Feature Summary: Sometimes, a member’s event or reservation confirmation email may display a different time than what was originally selected when booking. This usually happens when the device receiving the email (computer or phone) is set to a different time zone or has incorrect time settings.

CourtReserve always uses the correct time and date from the club or organization’s event or reservation setup, but the displayed time in the email header may vary depending on the device’s local settings.

Use Cases: This guide helps:

  • Members who notice a mismatch between the time in their confirmation email and the time they signed up for.

  • Admins or staff assisting members who report confusion about event or reservation start times.

OVERVIEW

Below is an example of a confirmation email for an event or reservation.

  • The time and date displayed at the top of the confirmation email are determined by the device’s local clock or time zone (computer or phone).

  • The reseervation time listed within the email body—the section that comes from your organization’s confirmation details—is the true event or reservation time in the club's CourtReserve.

If the times don’t match, the member should check and correct their device’s time zone or time settings to ensure all future emails display the correct local time.

Example: Understanding Time Differences in Confirmation Emails

A member books a tennis court at 8:00 PM Eastern Time (the club’s local time in Florida). However, when they receive the confirmation email, the time shown at the top of the message displays as 7:00 PM.

This happens because the member’s device or email client is set to Central Time, which is one hour behind Eastern Time.

In the example below, a court was booked at a club in Florida (eastern time) by a member currently residing in Minnesota (central time).

Why This Happens

The time and date displayed at the top of a reservation or event confirmation email are determined by the computer or phone receiving the email—not by CourtReserve. The email system adjusts the displayed time based on the device’s local time zone settings.

The time shown within the email body reflects the official event or reservation time set by the organization in CourtReserve.

If the two times don’t match, the member should check their device’s time zone or clock settings to ensure they are correct. Once updated, future confirmation emails will display the proper local time.

Tip: To fix time zone issues on a member's device:

  • iPhone/iPad: Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and enable Set Automatically.

  • Android: Go to Settings > System > Date & Time and turn on Automatic Time Zone.

  • Windows/Mac: Open Date & Time Settings and confirm your device is using the correct time zone for your location.

Summary

CourtReserve always displays the correct local time of the club or organization where the event or reservation takes place. If the confirmation email shows a different time, it’s due to the recipient’s device time zone, not an error in the CourtReserve system.
