INTRODUCTION
Feature Summary: Create Revenue Categories to organize and classify revenue by type, such as court rentals, memberships, events, and merchandise. These categories help streamline reporting and provide clearer insights into your organization’s financial performance.
Use Cases: System users can save time and improve accuracy when generating financial reports. Revenue Categories make it easy to filter, track, and analyze income from specific sources—supporting better budgeting and operational decisions.
SETUP REQUIREMENTS
Log in to the admin dashboard.
Click SETTINGS on the side menu.
Scroll down to the BILLING SETTINGS row.
Click the Revenue Categories icon.
On the next page:
Click the Create Revenue Category button.
Configure settings.
Click Save changes.
Filling in the Fields
Name - Enter a unique and descriptive name for the Revenue Category (e.g., Court Rental Fees).
GL Code - Input the General Ledger (GL) code associated with this category for accounting and financial tracking purposes.
The following fields are optional. If not applicable, leave blank.
Eligible for Misc Items - Check this box if you want this Revenue Category to be available for use with Miscellaneous Fees (e.g., admin-applied charges).
Reservation Types - Link this Revenue Category to one or more Reservation Types (e.g., Private Court Booking) to be able to assign it when those fees are charged.
Event Categories - Link this Revenue Category to one or more Event Categories (e.g., Adult Clinics, Junior Camps) to categorize revenue generated from events.
Memberships - Link this Revenue Category to specific Membership Types (e.g., Annual Pickleball Membership) to track membership dues revenue separately.
Item Categories - Link this Revenue Category to fees from one or more Point-of-Sale Item Categories (merchandise or retail-related revenue).
Review the Revenue Categories
After saving a category, CourtReserve adds a row to the Revenue Categories table. The table shows the items or club activities linked to each Revenue Category.
Click Edit to update a Revenue Category or Delete to remove it from the platform.
ADMIN PERSPECTIVE
The example below illustrates how a Revenue Category can be assigned in CourtReserve. A system user creates a Reservation Type called Doubles – Pickleball and links it to the Revenue Category Court Rentals.
As a result, any revenue generated from Doubles – Pickleball reservations will be automatically categorized under Court Rentals. When a player books and pays for this reservation type, the revenue will appear in the Sales Summary Report under the Court Rentals (654) Revenue Category, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
Reservation Type of Doubles-Pickleball is assigned to Revenue Category of Court Rentals (654).
Player books the Doubles-Pickleball reservation and pays $35:
Revenue is tracked on the Sales Summary Report under the Revenue Category Court Rentals (654):
