If you own Crane Coins (CNC)—the reward points you earn after completing transactions on Crane—you already know you can use them to buy airtime, purchase data, and swap them for cash when they reach 10,000. But airtime and data purchase options are currently suspended (as of the time of writing), leaving you with cash redemption.
However, starting in November 2025, you can use CNC to pay for crypto-to-naira conversion fees. This means if you have CNC, you can use it to offset conversion fees (wholly or partly), helping you spend less on transaction fees.
How CNC offset works on Crane
To reiterate, CNC offset gives you the option to use CNC to pay conversion fees on Crane. You can use CNC to cover all or part of your conversion fees.
Here's what I mean: if your conversion fee is ₦300 and you have 1500 CNC (₦150), you can use all your 1500 CNC to pay for half of the conversion fee, while the rest (₦150) will come from the converted amount. However, if your CNC is enough to cover the conversion fee, then you can use it to pay once and for all.
How to use CNC offset to pay transaction fees on Crane
To use CNC offset, follow the following steps:
1. Go to Convert on the Crane app homepage > select the crypto asset you want to convert > enter the amount you want to convert to naira.
2. On the convert page, select Crane Coins (CNC) to cover the conversion fee:
3a. Once you use CNC, you'll see the amount it covers and your CNC balance:
3b. If your CNC balance is insufficient to pay the full transaction fee, the maximum value your CNC can pay for will be deducted, while the rest will be taken from your balance:
How can I win CNC on Crane?
You can win CNC through any of the following:
1. Complete transactions on Crane
Once you convert crypto to naira, you'll receive CNC as a reward. The volume of CNC you'll receive depends on the level you belong to and the transaction amount. The higher the level and transaction value, the more CNC you'll win as a reward.
Currently, you can stack more CNC during the Double U promo, which doubles the CNC you receive, irrespective of your Crane level, as long as you convert at least $50 to naira. Here's how the Double U multiplier effect works:
Levels | CNC per $1 transaction | Double U multiplier effect |
1-4 | 5 | 10 |
5-7 | 10 | 20 |
8-9 | 15 | 30 |
10-20 | 20 | 40 |

2. Claim Airdrops
The Crane Airdrop is a time-sensitive gift box. Once you perform an action that earns you a reward, you'll receive Airdrops on the Crane app. Airdrops contain any of the following: CNC, discount cards (it removes 25%–100% off crypto-to-naira conversion fees), and free transfer cards that let you withdraw from your Crane wallet to your local bank account for free.
3. Unlock a new level on the Crane app
The more crypto you convert, the higher your chances of unlocking the levels. Each new level comes with a CNC bonus and multiplier effect that affects your subsequent bonus.
The underlisted table highlights the conversion requirements for the levels on Crane, the multiplier effects you’ll enjoy on each level, and the CNC benefits of unlocking a new level:

25 CNC for every crypto-to-naira conversion your referred friend completes. The bonus will stop after you've earned 25,000 CNC.
A one-time 200 CNC bonus for unlocking the Preacher badge once your friend converts crypto worth $1 to naira.
You must be on the Know Your Customer (KYC) Tier 2 to access referral bonuses.
6. Complete KYC registration
KYC helps us protect your account and comply with financial regulators. We have 3 tiers on Crane KYC: Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3. Once you complete the requirements for each level, you'll receive a CNC bonus, as shown below:
KYC tier | CNC reward | Requirements |
1 (basic verification) | 500 | Phone number |

FAQs about CNC offset
1. Can I use a discount card and CNC at once to pay for conversion fees?
No, you can't. You can use either a discount card or CNC to cover conversion fees, not both at the same time.
2. Are discount cards and CNC offset the same thing?
No, they are not, but they offer a similar service. Discount cards remove 25% to 100% off your conversion fees, while CNC offset helps you use your utility token (CNC) to pay for some or all of your conversion fees.
Unlike discount cards, CNC offset doesn't offer a fixed discount percentage—the amount it covers depends on the CNC you have. Both service offerings, however, let you keep your hard-earned money and pay less on transaction fees.
3. Can I split my CNC with my account balance even if I have more than enough?
No, you can't. If your CNC is enough to cover your conversion fees, all of it will be used. However, if your CNC is insufficient, the maximum value your CNC can pay for will be deducted, while the rest will be taken from the amount you want to convert.
4. Can I use my CNC to pay for conversion fees even if it's “locked”?
Yes, you can use CNC to pay for conversion fees even if it's “locked.” Locked CNC applies only to cash swaps, not services such as CNC offset. Furthermore, the criterion to unlock your CNC for cash redemption is converting $20 to naira.
