Professional Registration Check – GMC

GMC: General Medical Council

Professional registration checks are essential and need to be continuously verified. At Credentially, we have an integrated system which checks a professional registration number daily against the GMC database.

There are two ways to enter your number into the system:

· During onboarding

OR

· In the 'Professional registration' tab

NOTE: Enter your PIN using uppercase letters instead of lowercase symbols. E.g. 99A9999A.

Once the correct PIN number is provided, Credentially will instantly check the registration against the GMC database and you will see the status 'REGISTERED' on your screen.

If the registration is found, there will be a green light and the 'compliant' status next to the name.

GMC History –

There is also the ability to track historical GMC data and statuses. If you want to look through the check's history, click on the 'View History' button.

Check dates and statuses will be displayed, as per the screenshot below.

GMC Statuses –

  • Suspended,

  • Not Registered - Having relinquished registration,

  • Not Registered - Erased for fraudulent application,

  • Not Registered - Erased after Fitness to Practise panel hearing,

  • - Not Registered - temporary registration expired, Not Registered - Deceased,

or Credentially received status, which is not defined in the list of known statuses

  • ID Check is not Done (Due to Covid)

  • Temporary Registration (Due to Covid)

Also, it has a non-compliant impact on compliance status.

· GMC Not Found means that the GMC number is not found in the register; it has a non-compliant impact on compliance status.

· No GMC number means that the NMC number is not entered on Credentially; it has a non-compliant impact on compliance status.
