When you publish your career page or a job description on social media and/or on jo boards, you want to know which channel did exactly bring most of your new applicants. To do that, you will need to track sources using parameters.
(Learn more on how to redirect applications from job boards to Crew in this article)
1. What's a parameter, and how does it work ?
The parameter (also often called UTM Parameter) is what allows Crew to track the source of new applicants. By adding the parameter (example: ?utm_source=parameter
) at the end of your career page URL (example: company.crew.work) or the end of a specific jobโs URL (example: company.crew.work/123456), Crew will know where the candidate did come from, and will automatically include the related source to the candidate's profile.
2. Here is an example
Say you want to publish your career page or a specific job in HackerNews and you want to track that.
First, you'll need to create a new source HackerNews
To do that, you need to go to: Settings > Sources > + Add source
Then you can copy the URL generated by Crew (just by clicking on it), and then post on Hackernews.
Notice how Crew automatically added the parameter
?utm_source=hackernews
at the end of the URL, so that you don't have to.
Then, whenever a new candidate applies through this link, this source will be automatically attributed
And as always you can also filter on this source too, and/or even save the filtered results in a custom view in you side bar, for a quick access.
โ๐ก Pro Tip :
Once you have created a new source and Crew generated the parameter. You can then
โUse this parameter in your career page (example: https://memobank.crew.work/jobs?utm_source=hackernews)
But also in a specific job (example: https://memobank.crew.work/123456?utm_source=hackernews)
โ
โThen, you can also share is on your social media (LinkedIn, Twitter etc...) and track its performance!
