How to set up your wallet and receive your +Extra funding

A match funding partner has agreed to pledge on my project, what should I do next?

Updated today

Congratulations- your project has secured +Extra funding! 🎉

One of our funding partners has agreed to support your project. To make sure you receive these additional funds, there are a few important next steps to complete.

This guide explains how +Extra funding is paid out, what criteria you may need to meet, and how to set up your +Extra funding wallet.

+Extra funding is transferred slightly differently from money raised from the crowd.

All +Extra funding is processed via our payment partner, Stripe, which carries out additional due diligence checks (also known as KYC checks). To complete these checks, you’ll need to set up an +Extra funding wallet in your project dashboard.

Don’t worry- we’ll guide you through each step of the process.

Note: If you have received funding from the Sport England Movement Fund, please refer to the dedicated guide for that fund instead.

What criteria must I meet to receive my +Extra funding?

Some funding partners require you to meet specific criteria before your +Extra funding can be paid out. These may include:

  • Reaching 100% of your crowdfunding target (even if you selected Flexible Funding / Keep What You Raise)

  • Meeting additional fund-specific conditions

We recommend checking the eligibility criteria for your chosen fund carefully to ensure you remain on track to receive the partner pledge.

Minimum number of unique supporters

Most partner pledges also require your project to reach a minimum number of unique supporters before the pledge appears on your project page.

What counts as a unique supporter?
A unique supporter is a single pledge made using:

  • A unique name

  • A unique email address

  • A unique payment card

If multiple pledges are made using the same payment card, they will only count once. For example, pledges made by a primary and additional cardholder using the same card will be counted as one unique supporter.

How do I set up my +Extra funding wallet?

When your project receives +Extra funding, you’ll be prompted to set up a wallet in your project dashboard.

Step 1: Start the setup

  • Go to your project dashboard

  • In the Stripe wallet section, click “Continue setup”

Important: We’ve now fully migrated from our previous payment provider, Mangopay. Please ignore any references to Mangopay and only follow Stripe-related prompts.

Step 2: Accept Stripe’s terms

  • Read and agree to Stripe FA’s terms

  • Stripe may take a short time to create your wallet — this is normal

Step 3: Complete your financial details

You may be asked to add or confirm information in your project’s Financials section.

Once submitted:

  • Stripe may take some time to verify these details

  • If your financials show as complete, please allow time for verification before moving on to the next step

Step 4: Add your bank details

Once Stripe has verified your information:

  • Enter your bank details

  • Upload a bank statement

The bank account must be in the name of the organisation that applied for and was accepted for the funding.

Note:
Only a small number of funding partners allow payouts to individuals or sole traders. If you’re entering a personal bank account, please ensure this is permitted under your fund’s terms and conditions.

Troubleshooting

My wallet says it’s under review

If your wallet shows a processing message, Stripe is still reviewing your information. The “Continue setup” button will turn blue once you’re able to add the next set of details.

How long does verification take?

Verification by Stripe can take up to 5 working days.

If it has been longer than this, please contact us at support@crowdfunder.co.uk, and we’ll be happy to help.

When will my +Extra funding be paid out?

Once:

  • Your project has successfully closed, and

  • Your +Extra funding wallet has been fully verified

It can take up to 10 working days for the funds to be transferred to your bank account.
