What is Performance mode?
Performance mode is a setting in the Cuez Automator that reduces the frequency of UI updates, disabling animations and non-essential visual processing. It was designed for broadcasters working with large rundowns where the Automator's regular UI activity can increase CPU load on the computer running it, particularly when a playout device (such as vMix), the Automator, and the web GUI are all running on the same machine.
Enabling Performance mode does not affect how automations are executed or how quickly commands are sent to your devices. It only reduces the visual overhead in the Automator interface itself.
When to use it: enable Performance mode if you notice sluggishness or high CPU usage on the machine running the Automator during large or complex productions. It is not necessary for most setups.
How to enable Performance mode
Go to the gear icon in the top right corner of the Automator and select 'Project settings'. Under the 'Performance' tab, click on the checkbox 'Enable performance mode'.
The setting takes effect immediately - no restart required.
Interaction latency panel
The 'Performance' tab also contains an 'Interaction latency' panel. This is a diagnostics tool that shows the timing breakdown for each action executed by the Automator:
Net - the time taken to send the command to the device over the network
Total / Delay - the overall time from when the Automator triggered the action to when it was executed, including any configured delays
Use this panel to identify whether any actions are taking longer than expected, and to distinguish between network latency and Automator-side delays. This is particularly useful when troubleshooting reports of commands not firing on time during a live show.
š” Performance mode and the Interaction latency diagnostics panel are available from Automator Stable v1.24.0 (8 June 2026) onwards.
