How can I manage Automation functions?

Find out how to manage your functions in the Automator

Drag & Drop your Sections and Functions

When creating a Section with a set of Functions, you can easily change the position of your separate Functions inside your Section, or change position of the whole Section.

To do so, grab the 6 dots next to your Section/Function and drag & drop it into another position.

Enable and Disable your Sections and Functions

When configuring Sections and Functions, you can easily enable or disable the separate Functions or the entire Section.

To do so, click on the 6 dots in front of your Section or Function and select 'Enabled'. A green checkmark next to 'Enabled' in the menu will indicate that the Section or Function is enabled.

If you want to disable it, simply click again 'Enabled', the check mark will disappear and your content will be greyed out, indicating that the Section or Function is disabled.

Duplicate and Copy/Paste your Sections and Functions

Duplicate your Sections & Functions

You can easily duplicate a Section or Function within your configuration.

Click on the 6 dots menu in front of your Section or Function and select 'Duplicate'.

Copy/Paste your Sections

For the Section, you also have the possibility to copy & paste it. Still in the 6 dots menu, select 'Copy', a pop-up will appear at the top of your screen, notifying you that the element has been successfully copied.

You can then paste your Section by clicking on 'Paste clipboard' at the bottom of your Triggers Configuration.

Multi-select Sections and Functions

You can select multiple Sections or Functions at once by holding Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) and clicking each one. Once selected, you can perform the following actions on your selection using the keyboard shortcuts below:

  • CTRL/Cmd + C — Copy the selected Sections or Functions

  • CTRL/Cmd + X — Cut the selected Sections or Functions

  • CTRL/Cmd + V — Paste the copied or cut Sections or Functions

  • CTRL/Cmd + D — Duplicate the selected Sections or Functions

  • CTRL/Cmd + Z — Undo the last action

The 'Paste clipboard' button at the bottom of the Triggers Configuration will also appear even when no automations have been configured yet, making it easier to paste a copied Section or Function into a fresh configuration.

💡 Multi-select for sections and steps (copy, cut, paste, duplicate, undo), improved drag & drop delay, and persistent Paste clipboard button are available from Automator Stable v1.24.0 (8 June 2026) onwards.
