Search by Tax ID

There are over 1.5 million charities on Daffy.

If your charity is a 501(c)(3) organization and public charity in good standing with the IRS, it will likely already be on Daffy.

If your charity meets these requirements, you can find its public profile adding its 9-digit, federal tax ID (also known as an EIN) to the end of this URL: https://daffy.org/charities/

Make sure you don't use the dash (-) in your Tax ID when using this URL.

For example, here is Daffy’s tax ID and public profile URL:

Tax ID: 86-3177440

Other Eligible Charities

Some tax exempt organizations that are not registered with the IRS but may still be eligible to receive tax-deductible donations under IRS code. One example is houses of worship (e.g. churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, etc.).

Public schools and public institutions may also be eligible through a registered 501(c)(3) charity that manages their fundraising like a “PTA or PTO” or a “Friends of” organization. Please reach out to them directly to ask for the best way to make a tax-deductible donation from a donor-advised fund.

Tax ID Not on Daffy

There are several reasons why a charity may not appear when you search by their tax ID on Daffy.

  • The organization does not meet Daffy's eligibility requirements to receive donations.

  • The organization is not in good standing with the IRS or the State of California, which means their tax exempt status has been temporarily or permanently revoked.

  • The organization is doing business under a different name or DBA (i.e. not their registered legal name with the IRS).

  • The organization is a project or initiative of a larger charity or institution and therefore does not have its own tax ID.

  • The organization is fiscally sponsored by another charity and does not have its own tax ID.

Donations may still be sent to charities using a DBA or operating under a larger organization or using a fiscal sponsor.

You can also designate your Daffy donation for a specific purpose, program, or project. Learn how here.
