Scanning barcodes or NFC tags allows your team to quickly and accurately populate fields in Dashpivot forms with specific data, such as job numbers, asset IDs, or location details. Instead of manually typing long strings of numbers or codes, users can simply scan and auto-fill the field with the correct value.

Example use cases

  • A fabrication team scanning a job number barcode to instantly populate a checklist field

  • Maintenance crews scanning the barcode on an asset to pull up its unique ID

  • Site supervisors scanning NFC tags installed on doors, vehicles, or equipment to confirm inspections or checks

Recommended apps to unlock barcode and NFC tag scanning in your forms:

To populate a field by scanning a barcode or NFC tag, follow these steps:

1. In the form, tap the field (e.g. Job number)

2. Select the option to Scan barcode or Scan NFC tag

3. Use the scanner app (iOS or Android) to capture the code or tag

4. Dashpivot automatically fills in the linked field with the stored value
