How to create a Quantity Chart

Learn how to setup this chart type, and what its best used for

Overview

The Quantity chart is used to track numeric quantities recorded inside your forms. For example, tracking labour hours, number of people, costs or production quantities over time.

Important note: For these numbers to be tracked using a quantity chart, they need to be recorded inside a table, using either a number or formula column in a default table (or if using a prefilled table, only number or formula cells).

If none of your templates contain a table containing a number or formula cell/column, the Quantity chart option will be disabled.

Like all charts, you can setup a Quantity chart either at a company level, or within a specific Team folder.

How to set up a Quantity Chart

  • In a Team folder, your charts can only refer to Templates in the same Team folder

  • At company level, your charts can only refer to Templates in your Template Library that have been deployed to at least 1 Team Folder

Steps

  1. Go to Analytics

  2. Create a Dashboard, or open an existing Dashboard

  3. Click 'Add chart'

  4. Choose 'Quantity'

  5. Select which template will be the source, specify which table field, and which table column/cell

  6. Your chart will appear! By default it will be shown as the 'Bar chart'

  7. Try adjusting the settings or applying filters to analyse your data further

This setting allows you to determine how the information is visualised

  • Bar chart

  • Line chart

  • Area chart

S-curve

The S-curve is only available for the 'bar chart' and allows you to overlay the cumulative quantity on the chart. This way you can see the volume per day/week/month as well as the growing total.

Breakdown by

This setting allows you to breakdown your data in more detail, displaying variables in different colours.

  • Workflow column

  • Created by

  • Project (available at company level)

  • Team (available at company level)

  • List (available for default tables, for any list columns in the same source table)

Common use cases

The Quantity chart is most useful for tracking numeric data typically recorded in daily reports or dockets, such as:

  • Tracking labour hours

  • Tracking number of people on site

  • Tracking costs

  • Tracking production quantities

  • Tracking material quantities

  • Tracking waste quantities

  • Tracking rainfall volume

  • Tracking delay minutes/hours/days

  • Tracking meter readings and calibrations

Tracking the number of rows in a table
