Specifying 'required' fields on your form templates is useful to ensure critical parts of forms are completed by your team. This could be for compliance reasons, or ensuring comprehensive information is captured.

Steps:

  1. Open up the template editor

  2. Hover over the field you want to make required, and the Field Settings will appear

  3. Check the box to mark it as required

  4. Save the template changes

Important differences between timeline and workflow templates:

Timeline Templates

  • All required fields must be completed in order to save the form

Workflow Templates

  • Forms can be saved without required fields being completed. But the approval signatures cannot be signed (to progress forms through the workflow). This is because different people may be required to complete different sections at each stage throughout the workflow process, and not all information may be known initially. However, the required fields must all be completed in order to complete the workflow.

  • For all columns (except the last column): only required fields above the next approval signature are required to be completed, in order to sign the next approval signature.

  • For the last column ONLY: all required fields must be completed in order to save the form, including required fields below the last approval signature.
