Onyx – Bracket Orders and Bracket Templates

Bracket Orders in Onyx allow you to create preset trade templates with a selected quantity, stop loss, and take profit. This helps traders place orders faster while keeping risk and profit targets more consistent.

What is a Bracket Order?

A Bracket Order is an order setup that can include:

  • Entry direction

  • Quantity

  • Stop loss

  • Take profit

Bracket Orders are useful when you want to enter a trade with preset exit levels already prepared.

What are Bracket Templates?

Bracket Templates allow you to save common bracket setups so you can reuse them later.

Instead of entering the same stop loss, take profit, and quantity every time, you can create a template and select it from the Trade Shell.

Examples:

  • Scalp setup

  • Small risk setup

  • Larger target setup

  • Fixed tick stop and target

  • Fixed dollar stop and target

How to Create a Bracket Template

To create a new Bracket Template:

  • Click Bracket Templates at the top of the chart.

  • Under New Bracket, enter a template name.

  • Enter the Quantity.

  • Choose whether the bracket should be based on:

    • Dollars

    • Ticks

  • Enter the Stop Loss amount.

  • Enter the Take Profit amount.

  • Click Save Bracket.

Once saved, the bracket will appear in your list of available templates.

What Information Do I Need to Enter?

When creating a bracket, you will need to fill out:

  • Name

    • The name of your bracket template.

    • Example: Scalp

  • Quantity

    • The number of lots/contracts for the trade.

    • Example: 1, 2, or 5

  • Dollars or Ticks

    • Choose whether your stop loss and take profit should be calculated by dollar amount or tick amount.

  • Stop Loss

    • The amount or tick distance used for the stop loss.

  • Take Profit

    • The amount or tick distance used for the take profit.

Can I Create a Bracket With Only a Stop Loss or Only a Take Profit?

Yes.

You can leave one side blank if you only want a single exit leg.

For example:

  • Stop Loss only

  • Take Profit only

If you set both a Stop Loss and Take Profit, they will be linked as a bracket/OCO-style setup.

How to Use a Saved Bracket Template

To use a bracket you already created:

  • Click Trade Shell at the top of the chart.

  • Open the Brackets tab.

  • Select one of your saved bracket templates.

  • Choose Buy or Sell.

The selected bracket setup will be used for the trade.

Where Do My Saved Brackets Appear?

Saved bracket templates appear inside the Brackets tab in the Trade Shell.

You will see the bracket name and its saved settings, such as:

  • Quantity

  • Stop Loss

  • Take Profit

Example:

  • Scalp

  • 1 lots • SL 12t • TP 12t

Can I Edit or Delete a Bracket Template?

Yes.

From the Bracket Templates window, you can manage your saved brackets.

You may see options to:

  • Edit an existing bracket

  • Delete a bracket

  • Create a new bracket

Important Notes

Please keep the following in mind:

  • Always confirm the correct account is selected before placing a trade.

  • Always confirm the correct symbol is selected.

  • Review the selected bracket before clicking Buy or Sell.

  • Make sure the quantity matches your intended trade size.

  • Stop loss and take profit values should match your risk plan.

  • If you use both Stop Loss and Take Profit, they are designed to work together as a bracket/OCO-style setup.

Best Practices

Before using a Bracket Template:

  • Create simple templates you can easily recognize.

  • Use clear names like Scalp, Small Risk, or Runner.

  • Double-check whether the bracket is set in Dollars or Ticks.

  • Confirm the stop loss and take profit values before trading.

  • Test with smaller size before using larger quantities.

  • Review your open orders after placing the trade.
