Before You Begin:
• Make sure your Bluetooth microphone is turned on and paired with your computer.
• Confirm it’s connected via Bluetooth. You can check this under Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Open Sound Settings
Click the Start button or press the Windows key.
Type “Sound settings” and press Enter.
• You can also go to:
Settings > System > Sound
Step 2: Set the Bluetooth Mic as Default
Scroll down to the Input section.
Under “Choose a device for speaking or recording”, click the dropdown menu.
Select your Bluetooth microphone from the list (e.g., “Headset (Your Device Name)”).
Tip: If you don’t see your device listed, click “Add device” under Bluetooth settings to reconnect it.
Step 3: Test the Microphone
Under the same Input section, you’ll see a Test your microphone bar.
Speak into your Bluetooth mic — if the bar moves, it’s working!
Optional: Set it as the Default in the Control Panel (for advanced apps)
Some programs (like Zoom or voice dictation software) might rely on the Windows Control Panel defaults.
Here’s how:
Open Control Panel → click Hardware and Sound → then Sound.
Go to the Recording tab.
Right-click your Bluetooth mic and select Set as Default Device and/or Set as Default Communication Device.
Click OK to apply changes.
Troubleshooting Tips:
• If your mic isn’t working, try disconnecting and reconnecting the Bluetooth device.
• Ensure the device isn’t muted and has adequate battery.
• Restart your computer if changes don’t take effect.
Still Not Working?
If you’re still having issues, check your microphone privacy settings:
• Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone
• Make sure Microphone access and Let apps access your microphone are turned On
