International Users (outside the US)

For those users who use the international tooth numbering system, you can use the same commands listed in this document but please replace the international format for the tooth number.

e.g.: "Bleeding on tooth twelve" for "Bleeding on tooth two four"

Pocket Depths

You can chart up to nine measurements at a time

For best results, six - nine measurements at a time are recommended, but not more than that.

Here’s an example of charting normal pocket depths:

“Three”

“One, two, one”

“Three, four, two, one, two, four”

Here’s a few examples when charting pocket depths greater than nine, say”:

“Ten”

“Five, seven, ten”

“Ten, ten, twelve”

Bola Voice - charting AI solution is automatically on Pocket Depths

To switch between PD or GM rows, say:

To begin continuous GM charting

“Start GM”

“Start gingival margin”

To resume pocket depths

“Start pocket depths/PD” “Chart pocket depths”

Bola AI can understand and process many different combinations of commands, but they must be formulated in a specific way. However, there is a recommended structure for best results, which is to use following:

KEYWORD:

TOOTH NUMBER:

POSITION:

SURFACE:

Bleeding

The commands ”BOP” or ”Bleeding” can be used interchangeably to chart bleeding

To mark bleeding, say:

Current tooth

“Bleeding” (marks central pos.) “Bleeding mesial”

“Bleeding mesial and distal”

All positions on current tooth

“Bleeding all”

”BOP on all”

Specific tooth mesial (or distal) position

“Bleeding on mesial of tooth number five”

Specific tooth, position and side

“Bleeding on distal lingual of tooth number five”

Bleeding on entire sextant

“Bleeding on sextant three”

Bleeding on entire quadrant

“Bleeding on quadrant one”

Gingival Margin/Recession

To denote negative recession always use the word “Plus” in front the value and to denote positive recession use the word “Grade” or ”With” when charting a single and specific tooth.

Continuous Recession

When charting multiple measurements at a time, you don’t need to use “grade” or ”with” for charting positive GM.

You can move the cursor to the recession row by saying:

“Chart GM”

“Start gingival margin”

When charting negative GM or recession on multiple measurements, say:

“Plus two, plus three, plus one.” “Plus three, plus one, plus two”

When continuously charting positive GM/Recession measurements say:

“zero, one, zero”

“one one, one”

Spot Charting Recession

Current tooth (one value)

“Recession grade two”

Current tooth (three values)

Negative values

“Gingival margin plus one, plus one, plus one”

Positive values

“Gingival margin one, two, one”

Positive and Negative values

“Gingival margin zero, zero, plus one”

Specific tooth (one value)

Negative value

“Gingival margin tooth number five plus one”

Specific tooth (three values)

Negative values

“Gingival margin tooth number seven lingual plus one, plus two,

plus one”

Positive values

“Gingival margin tooth number five with zero, one, zero”

Positive and Negative values

“Gingival margin tooth number four zero, zero, plus two”

Specific tooth and side (single value)

Negative value

“Gingival margin tooth number six lingual plus two”

Positive value

“Gingival margin tooth number six lingual grade two”

Negative value

“Gingival margin tooth number

Positive value

“Gingival margin tooth number five buccal grade three”

NOTE:

Speaking only numbers (e.g., one, two, three) on the Recession row will add the sum of values (perform addition) of the pocket depths and Recession values in the CAL row. If you say “plus” followed by the numbers (e.g. plus one, plus two…), the CAL row will display a subtraction of the Gingival Margin value from the Pocket Depth value.

Furcation

Furcation records one value per tooth and must include “GRADE” or “CLASS”.

Furcation can only be entered on the side and site for the appropriate teeth: 1- 3, 14-16, 17-19, 30-32. To mark Furcation, say:

Current tooth - buccal

“Furcation grade two” (If on middle position)

“Furcation grade two”

Current tooth - lingual

“Furcation grade two” (If on middle position)

“Furcation grade two mesial distal”

Mobility

Mobility records one value per tooth and must include “plus” or “class.” Mobility values can be from one to four. To mark mobility, say:

Current tooth

“Mobility plus three”

Specific tooth

“Mobility tooth number five plus one”

Suppuration

Suppuration can be marked on three positions and on both surfaces

of the tooth. To mark suppuration, say:

Current tooth

“Suppuration”

Specific tooth and position

“Suppuration mesial”

“Suppuration mesial and distal”

“Suppuration on all”

Specific tooth

“Suppuration on tooth number two lingual”

Specific tooth and side

“Suppuration on the distal lingual of tooth number two”

Sextant

“Suppuration on sextant one”

Quadrant

“Suppuration on quadrant two”

Whole mouth

“Suppuration on full mouth”

Dentrix only

MGJ (Mucogingival Junction, not available on some software) records three values per tooth. To mark MGJ, say:

Current tooth

“MGJ plus one”

Specific tooth

“MGJ tooth number five plus one”

Continuous Charting

“Start MGJ”

Controls

To jump to another tooth, Say:

“Jump to tooth number five”

“Go to tooth number five”

To go back to the previous tooth, say:

“Go back”

“Back”

To remove the last command, say:

“Undo”

You can skip to the next tooth by saying:

“Skip or next”
