Aspect Ratio Control: Choose Your Image Dimensions
Why It Matters
Creating a YouTube thumbnail with the wrong dimensions means cropping and resizing later. Creating a TikTok video with square images means wasted space. Aspect ratio control means generating images in the right format from the start.
The bottom line: Select from 4 common aspect ratios before generating—square, landscape, portrait, or social—and your images come out perfectly sized for your platform.
What You Get
The options:
1:1 Square - Instagram posts, social media squares, profile images
16:9 Landscape - YouTube thumbnails, web banners, desktop wallpapers
9:16 Portrait - TikTok, Instagram Stories, mobile screens
4:5 Social - Pinterest pins, Instagram feed posts
Desktop only: The aspect ratio selector appears in your chat toolbar on desktop. Mobile defaults to square (1:1) to keep the interface simple.
How to Use Aspect Ratio Control
Selecting Your Ratio
Before generating your image:
Look for the aspect ratio selector in the chat toolbar (shows square icon ⬜ by default)
Click to open the dropdown menu
Select your desired ratio - each option shows:
Visual icon (square, horizontal, or vertical rectangle)
Format name (Square, Landscape, Portrait, Social)
Common uses (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, etc.)
Your selection stays active until you change it
The selector remembers your choice - all images you generate use the selected ratio until you change it again.
Generating Images
The aspect ratio applies to everything you create:
Text-to-image - Type your prompt, selected ratio is used automatically
Ingredient-based - Attach images, add prompt, ratio determines final composition
Image editing - Reply to existing images, ratio can transform dimensions
Example workflow:
Select 16:9 Landscape
Type: "Create a YouTube thumbnail for tech tutorial"
Generate
Result arrives in perfect 16:9 landscape format

How It Works Behind the Scenes
Priority System
Your selection always wins:
UI Selection (what you choose in dropdown) - Highest priority
AI Detection (what the AI guesses from your prompt) - Only used if you don't select
Default (1:1 square) - Fallback if nothing else applies
This means: If you select 16:9 landscape, you get 16:9 landscape—even if your prompt says "vertical image." Your explicit choice overrides everything.
Combining with Other Features
Aspect ratio works with:
Pro Mode - Direct prompts + aspect ratio control
Batch Generation - All images in batch use selected ratio
Ingredients - Ratio determines how ingredients fit in composition
Recipes - Style templates adapt to selected dimensions
Example: Select 9:16 portrait, enable Pro Mode, set batch to 4x—you'll get 4 portrait images with your exact unmodified prompt.
Desktop vs Mobile
Desktop Experience
Full control:
Aspect ratio selector visible in toolbar
Click to choose from all 4 options
Visual icons show each format
Selection persists throughout session
Location: Chat input toolbar, between avatar selector and batch count.
Mobile Experience
Simplified:
No aspect ratio selector shown
Always defaults to 1:1 square
Keeps mobile interface clean
Square works universally on mobile platforms
Why? Mobile is for quick work. Desktop is where you plan multi-platform campaigns and need format control.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does aspect ratio reset when I refresh the page? A: Yes. Each session starts fresh with 1:1 square as default. Select your ratio at the start of each session.
Q: Can I create custom aspect ratios? A: Not currently. The 4 provided ratios cover the most common use cases across platforms.
Q: What if my prompt mentions a specific ratio? A: Your UI selection always wins. If you select 16:9 but say "vertical image" in your prompt, you'll get 16:9 landscape.
Q: Do all AI models support aspect ratio control? A: Most modern models do. If a model doesn't support it, the parameter is safely ignored and the model uses its default behavior.
Q: Can I generate multiple ratios in one batch? A: No. One batch generates multiple images in the same aspect ratio. Generate separate batches for different ratios.
Q: Does changing aspect ratio use more credits? A: No. Aspect ratio selection doesn't affect credit cost. Each image costs 1 credit regardless of dimensions.
