Your safety is the top priority. If you are in an accident while on a Dispatch delivery, follow these steps in order.
Step 1: Make sure everyone is safe
Check on yourself and anyone else involved. If there are injuries, call 911 immediately before doing anything else. Do not move injured individuals unless there is immediate danger.
Step 2: Move to a safe location if possible
If your vehicle is drivable and it is safe to do so, move it out of traffic. Turn on your hazard lights.
Step 3: Call the police and file a report
Even for minor accidents, get a police report. You will need the report number for any insurance or adjustment claim. Exchange information with the other driver: name, contact number, insurance information, and license plate.
Step 4: Document everything at the scene
Take photos of all vehicles involved, the damage, the road conditions, and any relevant signage. Take a photo of the other driver's license and insurance card as well.
Step 5: Contact Dispatch Support
Notify Dispatch Support as soon as it is safe to do so through the in-app chat. Provide your order number, the location of the accident, and a brief description of what happened. Do not abandon the delivery or the cargo without instruction from support.
Live Support hours: Monday through Friday 5am to 6pm CST, Saturday 7am to 8pm CST, and Sunday 7am to 4pm CST. If outside of support hours, email drivercare@dispatchit.com with your order number and the details of the incident.
Step 6: Do not admit fault
Do not make any statements about who was at fault at the scene or on social media. Let the insurance and legal process handle that determination.
What happens to the delivery?
Dispatch Support will work with you and the customer to determine next steps for the cargo. Depending on the situation, another driver may be dispatched or an alternative solution arranged.
If you have follow-up questions about an accident that already occurred, contact Dispatch Support at drivercare@dispatchit.com with your order number and the date of the incident.
