Integrating your Smart Resolution link into your payment statement descriptor ensures customers can quickly resolve issues directly from their bank statement, helping reduce chargebacks and improve trust. Below are detailed steps for Shopify and Stripe users, along with notes for other payment processors.
Step 1: Create a Resolution URL
Choose a simple URL on your store to act as the resolution landing page.
Example: https://yourstore.com/help
This page can be a simple redirect or a fully branded help page.
Ensure the URL is easy to read and represents your brand clearly, as it will appear on bank statements.
Step 2: Set Up a URL Redirect
For Shopify Stores
Go to your Shopify admin panel β Online Store β Navigation β URL Redirects.
Click Create URL redirect.
Enter the Redirect from URL (your friendly store URL, e.g., /help) and the Redirect to URL (your Smart Resolution link).
Click Save.

For Other Platforms
Most platforms allow redirects through your hosting provider or CMS. Ensure the friendly URL forwards to your Smart Resolution link without errors.
Step 3: Update Your Statement Descriptor
Your statement descriptor is the text that appears on a customerβs credit card or bank statement. You can include your brand name and your resolution URL to make it easy for customers to resolve disputes.
Option A: Shopify Payments
In Shopify Admin β Settings β Payments β Shopify Payments β Manage.
Scroll to Statement descriptor.
Update it to include your brand and the short resolution URL (e.g., YourStore.com/help).
Example: YourStore.com/help or Disputifier.com
Click Save.
Note: Only Shopify Payments allows self-service updates. For more details: Change your Shopify Payments statement descriptor
Option B: Stripe
Log in to Stripe Dashboard.
Go to Settings β Account details β Statement descriptor.
Enter your brand name or short resolution URL.
Maximum 22 characters; only letters, numbers, spaces, and allowed symbols (-, ., ').
Save changes.
Optionally, for dynamic per-charge descriptors, you can set the statement_descriptor parameter in your API integration to include order IDs or unique resolution links.
Option C: Other Payment Processors
If you are not using Shopify Payments or Stripe, changing your statement descriptor usually requires contacting your processor directly.
Provide them with your desired descriptor (including your short resolution URL) and ask them to update your account settings.
Examples include: PayPal, Adyen, Square, Authorize.Net, etc.
Step 4: Test Your Setup
Make a small test purchase to ensure the redirect works and the statement descriptor displays correctly.
Verify that customers clicking the link are directed to the correct Smart Resolution page.
