Changing your billing descriptor is often necessary when you're using a very generic one or if you're looking to benefit from Disputifier's Smart Resolutions
Here are the steps you can take to change your billing descriptor
Shopify

Step 1: Log in to Shopify Admin
Go to Shopify Admin.
Enter your credentials and access your store dashboard.
Step 2: Go to Payment Settings
In your Shopify admin, click Settings (usually at the bottom-left corner).
Click Payments.
This is where all your payment providers (Shopify Payments, PayPal, etc.) are managed.
Step 3: Edit Shopify Payments Settings
Note: Billing descriptors can only be changed for Shopify Payments.
If Shopify Payments is enabled, click Manage next to Shopify Payments.
Scroll down to the Statement descriptor section.
Step 4: Update Your Statement Descriptor
Enter a name that will appear on your customers’ credit card statements.
Typically, you can use up to 22 characters.
Only letters, numbers, spaces, and a few symbols (like “.” or “-”) are allowed.
Example:
Disputifier.comorYourStoreName.
Preview how it will appear to customers.
If you are signing up for Disputifier's Smart Resolutions, please change the billing descriptor to something like STORENAME.COM/HELP
Step 5: Save Changes
Click Save at the bottom of the page.
Your new billing descriptor will now appear on future customer statements.
Stripe

Step 1: Log in to Stripe Dashboard
Go to Stripe Dashboard.
Enter your email and password to access your account.
Step 2: Go to Business Settings
On the right hand side, click Settings (gear icon at the top)
Under Business settings, click Account details.
Step 3: Edit Statement Descriptor
Scroll down to Public business information or Statement descriptor section.
Enter your desired descriptor.
Tips:Must include only letters, numbers, spaces, and allowed symbols (
-,.,').Should clearly identify your business to avoid chargebacks.

Step 4: Save Changes
Click Save at the bottom.
The new descriptor will apply to future charges (past charges cannot be updated).
For processors other than Shopify and Stripe you may need to reach out to your processors support team to update your billing descriptor
