Refund Process Information

Learn how refunds work after a cancellation or for other charges — who issues them, when to expect them, and how to follow up.

Updated over a week ago

When a reservation is cancelled, the marina is responsible for issuing any applicable refund in accordance with its individual cancellation policy. You can get help finding these policies here.

While Dockwa provides the tools to facilitate this, the marina makes the final decision and executes the refund. Dockwa Support can intervene only with the marina’s explicit approval.

If you are requesting a refund for any other charges (including electric, amenities, or other fees), the same process applies.

Timeline for Processing

  • Marinas are asked to act on cancellation and refund requests within 72 hours of notification. Automatic alerts are sent to ensure no request is overlooked. In some extenuating circumstances, it may take longer.

  • Please be aware that once processed, refunds may take 5–10 business days to appear in your bank account. This duration varies by bank and is outside of Dockwa’s control.

What to Do If You Have Questions or Want to Request a Refund

Refund FAQs

Q: Can I get a refund for electric if the marina's power hookup was broken?
A: Refunds for electric (and any other services) are handled directly by the marina. If you didn’t use the service or had an issue, message the marina through Dockwa - they’ll review the situation and let you know if a refund is possible.

Q: What about refunds for amenities or other charges (e.g., Fuel, water, or other services)?
A: Just like electric, refunds for amenities and other charges are up to the marina. Please message the marina through Dockwa - they’ll review the situation and let you know if a refund is possible.

Q: Why can’t Dockwa issue my refund directly?
A: Think of Dockwa as a marketplace that connects you with marinas, similar to how travel sites connect you with hotels. Each marina is its own independent business, with its own policies for cancellations and refunds. That means only the marina can approve and process your refund. Dockwa can help facilitate communication, but we can’t issue refunds without the marina’s approval.

Q: How long does it take to see the refund in my account?
A: Once the marina processes the refund, it usually takes 5–10 business days to appear in your bank account, depending on your bank.
