Viewing Activity Logs

How to navigate, search, and use the Activity Logs interface

Activity Logs provide a tamper-evident audit trail of all key actions in your Docupath tenant. Use them to answer "who did what, and when."

When to Use

  • Investigating unexpected outcomes (e.g., a document was approved but shouldn't have been)

  • Compliance reporting and audit preparation

  • Troubleshooting configuration changes

  • Auditing user actions across the tenant

Prerequisites

  • Admin or Manager role in Docupath

Steps

Step 1: Open Activity Logs

Navigate to Settings > Activity Logs.

Step 2: Set the Date Range

Use the date picker to define a date range. Start narrow (e.g., last 7 days) and widen only if needed.

Step 3: Search and Filter

Use the Search Bar to filter by:

  • User name

  • Action keyword (e.g., "Approve", "Role", "Retention")

  • Entity or object name

Step 4: Review the Log Tables

The log table displays:

Column

Description

Date/Time

Timestamp of the action

User

The user who performed the action

Activity

Description of what was done

Step 5: Expand Entries for Detail

Click the expand control (triangle icon) on any entry to reveal before/after values for configuration changes.

Step 6: Copy or Export Entries

Copy entries as needed for support tickets, audit notes, or compliance reports.

Expected Outcome

Clear visibility into who performed what action and when, with before/after context for configuration changes.

Common Issues

Issue

Cause

Resolution

Too many results returned

Overly broad date range

Narrow the date range to a shorter window

Missing expected events

Searching only by person

Search by action keyword as well to catch all relevant entries

Incomplete understanding of a change

Skipping the expand control

Always click to expand entries to see before/after values

Notes

  • Activity logs are tamper-evident and cannot be modified or deleted.

  • Log retention is tied to the tenant's data retention policy.

  • For long-term compliance requirements, export critical entries to an internal audit repository.
