This guide shows how to upload a CSV file as a new supporting file, so that Transformation and Rejection rules can look values up in it. It is for admins, managers and custom roles with Create access to Supporting Files, and it sits under the Supporting Files reference article.
Prerequisites
Create access to Supporting Files. The Admin and Manager roles have it by default
A CSV file with a header row that names the columns, and its columns separated by commas or semicolons
A file no larger than 50 MB, with no more than 250,000 rows
Room for another file: at most 10 supporting files per organization, and 100 per tenant
Steps
Click the dropdown arrow (▾) next to your user avatar in the top-right corner of the screen to open the main menu.
Click Supporting files.
Click Add New.
Note: Add New requires Create access to Supporting Files. Without it, the button is grayed out.
The New supporting file dialog opens. Its Upload Guidelines list the accepted format and the limits.
In Title, enter the name that the list and your rules will show for the file.
Under Upload, drag the CSV file onto the box, or click Browse and select it.
Click Save.
Expected Outcome
A message confirms that the file was received and is being checked. The file appears in the Supporting files list as Processing, and its status changes to Processed when it is ready. You can then select it with Link supporting file when you create or edit a Transformation or Rejection rule.
Common Issues
Issue | Cause | Resolution |
Add New is grayed out | Your role cannot add supporting files | Ask an admin for Create access to Supporting Files |
A red warning icon appears next to the file name, and the file is not uploaded | The file is larger than 50 MB, empty, or not a CSV file | Hover over the icon to see why. Remove the file with the delete (trash) icon, then select a CSV file within the limits |
A message under the upload box says the maximum number of supporting files is reached | Your organization already has 10 supporting files, or the tenant has 100 | Delete a supporting file that is no longer used, then try again |
The status is Failed | The file could not be imported, for example because it has more than 250,000 rows | Hover over the info icon next to the status to see why, correct the file, and upload it again |
The status is an amber Processed with an info icon | Some rows could not be read and were left out | Hover over the info icon to see how many rows were left out, then correct them and edit or replace the file |
Every value appears in a single column | The columns are separated by something other than commas or semicolons | Save the file as CSV with commas or semicolons between the columns, then replace the file |
Notes
Docupath checks the file in the background, so you can leave the page while it is processing.
If your access is limited to some organizations, the file belongs to those organizations, and only their users and users with access to all organizations can see it.
When you replace the file later, the new file must keep every column of this one. It can add new columns.
