You may be subject to the ELDT regulations if you are applying for a Class A or Class B CDL for the first time, upgrading a Class B CDL to a Class A CDL, or obtaining a Passenger, School Bus, or Hazardous Materials endorsement for the first time. Federal exceptions apply, so confirm whether ELDT applies to you with your State Driver Licensing Agency.
Follow these steps to complete your applicable online ELDT theory training and have your completion reported to the FMCSA Training Provider Registry (TPR):
Complete all fields on the Configure Your Study Program page. Enter your personal information exactly as it appears on your driver's license or permit so your completion record can be matched correctly in the TPR.
Complete all required course components and reach a Passing Probability of at least 80%.
After you successfully complete the applicable theory course requirements, we report your theory training completion to the TPR.
Complete the appropriate next step. Class A, Class B, Passenger, and School Bus applicants must also complete any applicable behind-the-wheel training before the state-administered skills test. HazMat applicants must complete the required theory training before the state-administered knowledge test.
