About This Tutorial
Now that your student is added, you can fill out more information about them. If you haven't added your student yet, go to this article: Add Your Students: Step 1
This tutorial will walk you though how to add your student's address, create a login and password for them, upload a photo of them, and more.
If you wish to skip around you can click on any of the titles in the Table of Contents and you will be taken directly to that section.
Go to Your Student's Edit Area
The first thing you need to do is go to your Students List. Once there you can follow along with the rest of this tutorial.
Go to Students > Students List
You will be taken to your list of students.
Click on the name of the student whose information you want to go into. In this case it is Frederic Chopin.
You are now in the student's edit area.
Add an Email Address
Next, you can add your student's email address. To do so:
Click in the Email field and type in your student's email address.
This email address is used to send invoices and lesson notes to the student.
Upload a PhotoNext, you can upload a photo of your student. To upload a photo:
1. Click on the Upload Image text.
Choose the photo you want to upload, and then click on the Open button.
Your student's photo is now uploaded.
Add a Phone Number
You can add a contact phone number. Do the following:
At the Phone field type in your student's contact number. The other two fields (type of number and carrier) are optional.
If you want to add another number, click on the +Add phone number text.
Add in Your Student's Address
Next, you will come across the address fields. The address will show up in the invoices you create for the student.
Fill in the the Country, Street, Apt/Suite, and/or State/Province fields to add in your student's address.
Create Your Student's Username and Password
In order for your student to have a Duet account, you need to create it. Right under the address fields is a place for you to create your student's username and password.
Create a Username. This name can be anything you want. In this case we will use "musicMasterChopin".
Note: If the name is already in use Duet will let you know when you go to save the form.
Create a password. Type in the same word in both the New Password and Verify Password fields.
The only password rule is that they are case sensitive. For example, "mypassword" is different from "MyPassword". Otherwise, there are no other rules on what the password can be.
Add in Your Student's Birthday
If you wish to celebrate your student's birthdays, you can have Duet give you a reminder when that day arrives or automatically send your student a birthday greeting.
Click on the down arrows of each field. The order, from left to right of each field, is: month, day, year.
When the month of your student's birthday arrives, you will see a reminder for it on your dashboard.
You will also be given a reminder on your calendar.
Add a Skype ID
If you plan on meeting with your student online using Skype, put in your student's Skype ID. What this does is give you the option to start the Skype meeting from the lesson(s) on your calendar.
Note: In Skype, it is called your Skype Name, not Skype ID.
Ask your student, or their parent, for their Skype ID/Name.
Copy and paste their Skype Name into the Skype ID field.
Once you have your student's Skype ID/Name saved you will see the button "Start Skype Call" in your calendar lessons for that student.
