Freestyle, or front crawl, is most common swimming stroke in the world, and is used as the base for most swim workouts in the DuoSwim app.

Description

The freestyle stroke strikes a balance between rotation, power and glide, challenging nearly all of the muscles in your body. Follow these key steps to improve your stroke technique and efficiency.

Key Points

  1. Head Position: Look straight down at the bottom of the pool.

  2. Breathing: Turn your head to the side, keeping one eye in the water.

  3. Catch: Keep your elbow high and pull in line with your shoulder.

  4. Kick: Keep your toes pointed, and kick from your hips, rather than your knees.

  5. Rotation: Keep your toes pointed, and kick from your hips, rather than your knees.

Note

Take time to focusing on your freestyle technique as this is a base for most swim workouts. If you need more guidance try our beginner freestyle training plan!
