The freestyle stroke strikes a balance between rotation, power and glide, challenging nearly all of the muscles in your body. Follow these key steps to improve your stroke technique and efficiency.
Key Points
Head Position: Look straight down at the bottom of the pool.
Breathing: Turn your head to the side, keeping one eye in the water.
Catch: Keep your elbow high and pull in line with your shoulder.
Kick: Keep your toes pointed, and kick from your hips, rather than your knees.
Rotation: Keep your toes pointed, and kick from your hips, rather than your knees.
