Why Care & Maintenance Matters
The long-term look and performance of an Earthaus Sand Finish depend on proper installation and regular care by the owner. Correct upkeep prevents unnecessary staining and preserves the aesthetic texture of the surface.
Note: Earthaus cannot guarantee finish outcomes once installed; responsibility lies with ongoing maintenance.
Routine Care
Cleaning Sand Finish:
Earthaus Sand Finish is granular, unsealed, and absorbent.
Routine cleaning with water is not recommended.
Instead:
Dust with a clean, dry cloth.
Vacuum gently to remove surface dirt.

Optional Sealing:
Sand Finish may be sealed with Earthaus Olive Oil Soap Sealer.
Sealing reduces absorbency and improves stain resistance.
Important: Once sealed, Sand Finish should follow the Stone Finish Care & Maintenance Guide instead.
Upkeep:
Maintain regular dusting or vacuuming as needed.
Damage Types: Risks & Repair
1. Staining
Risk:
Unsealed Sand Finish is highly absorbent, making it more prone to stains.
Repair — two categories of stains:
Superficial stains: Try light sanding with a mildly abrasive cloth or fine sandpaper.
Deep stains (absorbed into plaster): Best repaired by patching the area or applying a new plaster coat over the entire surface.
2. Cracking
Risk:
Long hairline cracks usually indicate substrate movement.
Cracks may return if the substrate continues shifting.
Repair:
Repairs should be evaluated by a plaster professional.
Repairs may be more noticeable than the cracks themselves.
3. Chipping
Risk:
Chipping is rare on Sand Finish.
High-risk areas: 90° outside corners.
Repair:
Fill chipped or nicked areas with additional Sand Plaster.
