The Editor Layout

When you open the editor for a video, you'll see a two-panel layout designed for an efficient workflow.

  • The Left Panel contains the video player and a unified timeline. You can play the video here to see your descriptions in context. The timeline visually represents the video, audio, and your description segments.

  • The Right Panel is your command center. It holds the list of all audio descriptions, editing tools, and options to preview and save your work.

Working with Descriptions

This is where you'll spend most of your time, refining each description to perfection.

Finding and Editing a Description

The right-hand panel lists all audio descriptions for your video. You can scroll through the list or use the search bar at the top to quickly find a specific description based on its text.

  1. Click on any description card in the list to expand it.

  2. The card will open up to reveal a text box containing the description.

  3. Simply click inside the text box and start typing to make your changes.

As you edit, you'll notice the duration of the clip on the timeline might change. This is a real-time estimate to help you gauge the length. The precise timing will be generated when you preview your changes.

Adding and Deleting Descriptions

You have full control to add new descriptions or remove unneeded ones.

  • To Add: Move the playhead on the timeline to the exact moment you want a new description to start. Then, click the "+ Add" button at the top of the editor panel. A new, empty description card will appear in the list, ready for you to edit.

  • To Delete: Expand the description you want to remove. In the top-right corner of the expanded card, you'll find a trash can icon. Click it to delete the segment. Don't worry if you make a mistake—you can always use Undo (⌘+Z) to bring it back!

Fine-Tuning Your Descriptions

Go beyond basic text edits with these powerful tuning features.

Standard vs. Extended Descriptions

You can choose how your description plays back in relation to the video.

  • Standard: The description plays over the video's original audio. This is best for filling natural pauses in dialogue.

  • Extended: The video pauses, the description plays, and then the video resumes. This is ideal for longer descriptions that need more time than the available pauses allow.

To change the type, expand a description and click the "Standard/Extended" toggle.

Adjusting Speech Speed

If a description feels too fast or slow, you can adjust its playback speed.

  1. Expand the description card.

  2. In the footer, you will find a Speed slider.

  3. Drag the slider to increase or decrease the speed (from 1.0x to 1.5x). The duration of the segment will update automatically.

Leveraging AI Assistance

Our editor includes AI-powered tools to help you write more effective descriptions, faster. These tools are located in the footer of any expanded description card.

AI Shorten

If your description is too long to fit in a pause, the AI can help.

  1. Expand the description card.

  2. Click the "Shorten" button.

  3. The AI will analyze the text and rewrite it to be more concise while preserving the core meaning. You'll see the new text typed out with an animation. If you don't like the change, an "Undo Changes" button will appear to let you revert.

AI Prompting

For more specific changes, you can instruct the AI directly.

  1. Expand the description card and click the "Prompt" button.

  2. A text box will appear. Type your instruction, for example: "Make it more dramatic" or "Focus on the character's emotions."

  3. Press ⌘+Enter or click the "Apply" button. The AI will rewrite the description based on your prompt.

Changing the Narrator's Voice

You can change the voice for all audio descriptions in your project at any time.

  1. At the top of the editor panel, click the voice selector dropdown.

  2. Choose a new voice from the list.

  3. The editor will begin regenerating audio for all description segments. This may take a few moments. Once complete, all descriptions will use the new voice.

Previewing and Saving Your Work

The editor keeps your drafts safe in the browser, but you must preview and save them for the changes to become permanent.

Previewing Changes

Before you save, it's crucial to preview your work. The "Preview" button generates up-to-date audio for any descriptions you've edited. This allows you to hear exactly how your changes sound and check the timing against the video.

Click the "Preview" button at the top of the editor panel. It will be enabled whenever you have changes that need new audio. While generating, the button will show a loading spinner. Once it's ready, you can play the video to hear the results.

Saving and Exiting

Once you're happy with your preview, it's time to save.

Click the "Save & Exit" button. All your changes will be saved permanently, and you will be taken back to your dashboard. If you try to close the editor tab with unsaved changes, your browser will warn you to prevent you from losing your work.

Helpful Keyboard Shortcuts

Speed up your workflow with these handy shortcuts:

  • Play/Pause Video: ⌘ + 1

  • Rewind 5 Seconds: ⌘ + 2

  • Undo: ⌘ + Z

  • Redo: ⌘ + ⇧ + Z

What's Next?

Once you've saved your changes, the updated audio descriptions will be live and available to your audience. You can return to the editor at any time to make further adjustments.
