FundPortal lets you share your fund information with different subsets of FundPortal users. This is done via our robust privilege level system.

For example, you may wish to group your users into 2 categories: Prospects & Current Investors. You can further divide Prospects into 'engaged investors' and those conducting due diligence on your fund who are further along in the investment process.

Accordingly, you can choose a different level of privilege for every user: engaged prospects (Low), current investors (Medium) and due diligence (High). Each level can be mapped to a specific document or commentary piece.

Understanding the difference between permission levels

Permission levels work as a cumulative hierarchy, the users permission allows them to view what they're selected as and any permission lower.

  • Portal Owner* allows a user to make changes to the funds page, these include and have access to the CRM, Marketing Tools, Data Management and Portal Settings. All information is visible.

  • Admin allows a user to make changes to the funds page. The funds page includes: Overview, Pitch, Analytics, Exposures & Holdings, Peer Analysis, News & Comments, Data Room and Contacts. All information is visible.

  • Board Level allows a user to view the Overview, Pitch, Analytics, Exposures & Holdings, Peer Analytics, News & Comments, Data Room & Contacts. Unless they are enabled or a post/document has been selected as a higher permission. In this instance, all above but not below.

  • Due Diligence allows a user to view the Overview, Pitch, Analytics, Exposures & Holdings, Peer Analytics, News & Comments, Data Room & contacts. Unless they are enabled or a post/document has been selected as a higher permission. In this instance, all above but not below.

  • High Privilege allows a user to view the Overview, Pitch, Analytics, Exposures & Holdings, Peer Analytics, News & Comments, Data Room & Contacts. Unless they are enabled or a post/document has been selected as a higher permission. In this instance, all above but not below.

  • Medium Privileges allows a user to view the Overview, Pitch, Analytics, Exposures & Holdings, Peer Analytics, News & Comments, Data Room & Contacts. Unless they are enabled or a post/document has been selected as a higher permission. In this instance, all above but not below.

  • Low Privilege allows a user to view the Overview, Pitch, Analytics, Exposures & Holdings, Peer Analytics, News & Comments, Data Room & Contacts. Unless they are enabled or a post/document has been selected as a higher permission. In this instance, all above.

  • No documents allows a user to view the Overview, Pitch, Analytics, Exposures & Holdings, Peer Analytics, News & Comments, & Contacts. The Data Room will be unavailable although documents uploaded in their user profile from an admin, will be available in the Data Room.

  • Denied will give users no access to the FundPortal.

To create a Portal Owner* the user will need to be a Portal Owner. Go to the contacts profile you would like to assign as portal owner and scroll down to the end of the profile page. Click 'Make Portal Owner' on the left hand side.

Once a Portal Owner has been created they can't be downgraded, they must be removed and added to the FundPortal.

Uploading documents & monthly commentary to your profile

Navigate to the document / news feed tabs in your fund profile:

Use these tabs to upload documents and monthly commentary to your FundPortal and select the required privilege level for each. When inviting users to your FundPortal, you will be given the option to set a privilege level for each user.

Users with a 'High' privilege level will be able to view all documents and commentary. Users with 'Low' privilege will only have access to commentary and documents also set to 'Low'.

You can upgrade, downgrade or remove the access level of a FundPortal user by navigating to the "Manage Access" tab and selecting 'View Activity' next to the desired user. Next, select the new privilege level from the drop-down menu.

To revoke access from users completely, simply select 'Denied' from the dropdown list.

Note: Privilege levels operate on a per-fund level on Edgefolio. Navigate and manage access to a different fund by selecting the drop down associated to the fund.

As a best practice, we suggest that you start everyone at the 'low privilege' level. This will give you the bandwidth and option to use more later, for different stages of the funnel and sales process. (You can also choose to NOT allow low privilege level users to download your documents, from the settings menu). Important! Don't forget to have the documents, chart, news etc on a similar level as well.
