Summary
CPU products are the sellable items your sites and wholesale customers order from your CPU. You manage them under Manage CPU on the Products tab, where you add products, set pricing, choose who can order them, and link each one to what it's made or bought from.
Every CPU product is either:
Something you make at the CPU
Something you buy from an external supplier and resell
Every CPU product is backed by a link - to a recipe, a supplier product, or a master product. The link is what tells Edify what stock to deduct when an order is fulfilled.
Set CPU products up around how sites buy from you, not around how the product is made or bought in: the CPU product describes the sellable thing, and the link behind it describes where it comes from.
Adding a new product
Select New product in the top right and complete the form using the field guide below, then Create product.
Field guide

Product name | The name customers see. |
Product code | A unique identifier for the product. |
Class | The product's class. |
Category | The product's category. Use Manage beside the field to edit the category list. |
Linked source | What backs the product: Recipe, Supplier product, or Master product. See "Linking a product" below. |
Quantity and Unit | For a linked product, how much of the source makes up one single unit of the CPU product (for example, 1 × Bottle). |
Lead time | An archive field that can be left blank. |
Pack type | The outer container customers order in (Pack, Case, Box, Each, Bottle). |
Pack quantity | The number of individual single units in one pack. |
Split-pack ordering | Whether customers can order part of a pack. |
Enforce pack multiples | Whether orders must be placed in whole-pack multiples. |
Sale price | The price per pack, excluding VAT, unless custom pricing is set per customer. |
VAT | The VAT rate. Optional — leave blank if VAT doesn't apply. |
Single unit type | What the smaller units inside a pack are (bottles, cookies, sleeves, and so on). |
Unit cost | Calculated automatically from sale price ÷ pack quantity. Not editable. |
Single unit volume / weight | The measurable size of one single unit, used in recipe sizing. |
Unit of measure | The unit for the single unit volume / weight. |
💡 Where to find Alt UoM for CPU products: it doesn't live on the CPU product page. Go via Suppliers & Products → the CPU supplier → Edit Product. Most fields will be greyed out (they're set on the CPU product page), but the Alt UoM field is editable here.
How Pack Type, Pack Quantity & Single Unit Type Work Together
These three fields define how the CPU product is sold to sites - they apply whether the product is made at your CPU or bought from a supplier.
Pack Type is the outer container customers order in (Case, Box, Each, Bottle).
Pack Quantity is how many smaller units are inside.
Single Unit Type is what those smaller units are.
Single Unit Volume/Weight & UoM is how much one of the smaller units weighs
When to set Volume/Weight
When You Don't Need Volume / Weight | When You Do Need Volume / Weight |
If sites just sell the product as whole units (a cookie or a bottle), there's no need to set a volume or weight on each unit. It's irrelevant to how they use the product. | If sites use the product as a recipe ingredient by weight or volume, or stocktake by weight/volume, then the size of one single unit matters. |

Linking a product
Set the link in the Linked source control by choosing Recipe, Supplier product, or Master product, then filling in the Quantity and Unit.
Can't find what you need in the picker?
Recipes must be assigned to the CPU site with "count in stocktake" ticked.
Supplier products must belong to a supplier assigned to the CPU, and the product must be active.
Link to one single unit, not the whole pack
The link should describe one single unit of the CPU product, never the whole pack.
For a CPU product sold as a 12-pack of bottles, the link is 1 × Bottle - one single unit of the CPU product is one supplier bottle.
Edify accounts for the pack quantity separately. If you instead link the whole pack, stock deductions come out wrong by a factor of the pack quantity.

The same principle applies to recipe-linked products: the recipe should yield one single unit (one cookie), not the whole pack (a box of 12).
Choosing who can order a product
You can control which products can be ordered by which Sites or Customers.
From the product: on the Products tab, tick a product, then select Manage customers in the bar at the bottom. Choose which customers can order it and select Save.
Editing a product
Open the product and select Edit, make your changes, and save. The product detail page is read-only until you select Edit.
Marking a product unavailable
Edify doesn't permanently delete CPU products - historical orders and reports would break. Either:
Select the product(s) you want to make unavailable, click Mark Availability and select Unavailable
Click into the product, click Mark unavailable and confirm
The product won't appear on new orders, but historical records stay intact. To bring it back, select Mark available and confirm.
💡 If the product was used in any recipes, replace it there too when you make it unavailable.
