Recipe Production Settings

How to setup the production settings for your recipes

Summary

For production planning to work, each recipe needs some production fields completed. Depending on how your business operates, not all of them will be relevant.

These settings live in a recipe's Production settings panel. To open it, go to Recipes in the sidebar, search for and select the recipe, then select Production at the bottom of the recipe panel. Make your changes and select Save.

You can also open a recipe's production settings straight from the planner — on the Plan production page, select the > next to a recipe. View recipe in the panel jumps to the full recipe.

Production visibility

Under Production visibility, tick the productions this recipe can be made in. The productions available here are defined by the site's production settings for example, if the site only has one production run, you'll only see Production 1.

Because visibility is set per site, it can vary from site to site. Confirm the site selected in the top left is the one you mean to set.

⚠️ Production visibility is set per site. Check the site shown in the top left before you start - these fields only appear when a specific site is selected, not when you're viewing All sites.

Production Fields Explained

Field

Explainer

Bakery / Hot Production

Sets whether the recipe is made using the Hot Production features. Choose Hot Production if it's made this way, even if it's technically a bakery item.

Preparation time

Bulk preparation times

Optional per-unit preparation times for larger batches. Select Edit bulk times, then add a From batch size and a preparation time per unit. Each entry applies to batches of that size and above, replacing the standard preparation time.

How long a made item stays sellable. Set in minutes, hours or days.

Assembly name

Links this recipe to an assembly in the Production Planner.

Key ingredients

Flags the ingredients that should keep recipes together on a bench, used by the same-key-ingredient bench allocation rule. Select Edit key ingredients to choose them.

Allow carry-over

When ticked, unsold quantities at production close are subtracted automatically from the next day's production plan.

Enable Preparation PCR

Tick if this recipe can be PCR'd as a prep product.

Production reference

An external identifier for this recipe - for example, its unique ID with a forecasting provider you integrate with.

Making the recipe available in production

Completing the fields above isn't enough on its own. To get the recipe into your Production Planner:

  • Add it to a range and tier - for Standalone, Hub, Spoke or Hybrid production models. See Production Ranges & Tiers. This is also where a recipe's closing range (the quantity to have available as a site closes) is now set, per tier.

  • Link it to a CPU product - if your site is a CPU, make sure the recipe is linked to its CPU product instead. Ranges and tiers aren't needed for CPU sites.

💡 A recipe also needs Count in stock take enabled to appear in the Production Planner. If a recipe isn't showing where you expect, check this is ticked on the recipe.
