Materials: Editing Text in Templates

This article describes the text editing options available in template fields, including basic formatting, lists, links, images, and alignment.

1. Basic formatting

The available tools depend on the template. Most templates support basic formatting, including text styles and colors. The formatting toolbar appears when you select text.

Keyboard shortcuts:

  • Cmd/Ctrl + B — Bold

  • Cmd/Ctrl + I — Italic

  • Cmd/Ctrl + U — Underline

  • Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + X — Strikethrough

2. Advanced editing and formatting

Templates designed for longer-form content provide additional editing options. The following templates have two toolbars:

  • Drag the word to the gap

  • Enter the word in the gap

  • Select the word for the gap

  • Text

  • Article

  • Note

2.1 Main toolbar

Open the main toolbar by clicking the + to the left of a line or by typing \.

Select a tool using the mouse or the and arrow keys, then press Enter to confirm.

2.2 Formatting toolbar

The formatting toolbar appears when you select text.

Keyboard shortcuts for Windows/Linux and macOS are displayed next to the corresponding options on the platform.

3. Working with tables

Create a table by clicking + or typing \.

Add as many rows and columns as needed. Hover over the right or bottom edge of the table and click +.

You can also add a row or column using the corresponding option in the row or column editing menu.

To adjust a column’s width, drag the round handle left or right.

Click X to delete an unnecessary row or column. Click the trash icon to delete the entire table.

4. Working with images

Click + or type \, then select Image.

You can upload an image from your device, generate one using the AI assistant, or select an image or GIF from the built-in libraries. You can add up to 10 images at a time. Images can also be dragged and dropped into the input field.

After inserting an image, you can crop it, except for GIFs, resize it, change its alignment, and adjust its position within the text. To resize an image, drag the round handle in its corner.

5. Creating lists

You can add a bulleted or numbered list from the toolbar by clicking + or typing \.

Alternatively, select the text and choose a list type from the expanded formatting menu under the three-dot icon.

Selecting the same list type again converts the list back into a regular paragraph.

6. Text alignment

Select the text and choose left, center, or right alignment.

Alignment is applied at paragraph level. To align a single line separately, press Enter to place it in a separate paragraph.

7. Adding a link

Select the text and choose Add Link from the expanded formatting menu under the three-dot icon.

Enter the URL to make the text clickable.

Click an existing link to open, copy, or edit it.

8. Adding custom colors

Select the text, click Text Color or Highlight Color, and then click +.

In the window that opens, select a color using the color picker or enter its HEX code. You can add up to 11 custom colors.

To edit or delete a custom color, click it.

9. Clearing formatting

Select the text and choose Clear Formatting from the expanded formatting menu under the three-dot icon.

This removes text styles, colors, and links. It does not remove list formatting or alignment.
