Some care recipients and families choose to use surveillance cameras in their homes for safety, security, or reassurance purposes. edyn.care allows the use of cameras provided they are used appropriately and do not compromise a live-in carer's privacy.
What you need to know
Any cameras in a care recipient's home must be disclosed to edyn.care.
You will be informed about the presence and location of cameras before accepting a placement.
Cameras may be located in communal areas, entrances/exits, external areas, or the care recipient's bedroom.
Cameras must not be located in your bedroom, bathroom, or any area designated for your private use.
Hidden or undisclosed cameras are not permitted.
If a family wishes to install cameras after care has started, they must notify edyn.care first.
Your right to privacy
As a live-in carer, you are entitled to reasonable privacy during your breaks, rest periods, and whilst using your private accommodation within the property.
Surveillance arrangements should not be used in a way that is excessive, intrusive, or negatively impacts your wellbeing.
If you have concerns
If you discover an undisclosed camera, believe a camera has been placed in an inappropriate location, or feel uncomfortable about surveillance arrangements in a placement, you should raise this with your Care Manager or the Quality Assurance Team as soon as possible.
edyn.care will review the situation and may ask for cameras to be repositioned, disabled, or removed where necessary to protect your privacy and ensure compliance with company policy.
