From October 14th 2024, we are transitioning to a retroactive payment system for carer food allowances. This means that food allowance payments will now be processed after carers complete their placement week, rather than in advance.
Why is This Change Being Made?
We are making this change to improve the accuracy and efficiency of our payment process. Currently, food allowances are paid in advance, which can lead to errors and unnecessary administrative tasks. By paying retrospectively, we will:
Reduce Errors: Payments will be more accurate as they are processed alongside regular payments, minimising manual data entry mistakes.
Simplify the Process: Carers will no longer need to provide separate bank details for food allowances as this will be issued within package payment.
Improve Reporting: Now in your invoices and payslips food allowance will show as a line item which means you will have a greater overview of all payments.
How Will This Affect Carers?
Carers will still receive the same amount of food allowance for their placements. However, instead of receiving it upfront, the payment will be included in their regular pay after the week's work is completed. This will result in a one-week delay before their first food allowance payment under the new system.
How Will This Affect Clients?
Clients will not see any changes in the cost of care or the level of service provided. However, we want to keep you informed about this update, as carers may discuss it with you.
