In this article we'll have a look at all the things you need to know about getting authenticated with Watchtower.

Authentication Methods

There are 2 ways to get access to Watchtower and they are:

  • Using a unique token

  • Using your Effective Experiments account's credentials

Authenticate Using Unique Tokens

This is mostly for external users that don't have their own Effective Experiments account. If this is you, then you will need to get a unique token from your Effective Experiments master user

Authenticating with tokens will give you access to a single domain only. Read more about Watchtower instances & unique tokens

To authenticate with the token, you can simply fill in the required information along with the provided token and proceed.

NB! Users that have Effective Experiments accounts, will not be able to login with a token and can only authenticate by signing in to Effective Experiments

Authenticate Using Effective Experiments App

If you are an Effective Experiments user with login details, you should use the app to authenticate.

Authenticating with Effective Experiments details will give you access to all configured instances. Read more about Watchtower multi-domain access

You can do this by following the following steps:

  • Click on "Sign In to Continue",

  • You'll get redirected to Effective Experiments

  • Login to Effective Experiments as you always do

  • Once you've logged in successfully, you'll be automatically authenticated with Watchtower

  • Proceed to Watchtower and see that you can now use the browser extension
