Why you can't add your First Mortgage PIE Trust investment account
Your First Mortgage PIE Trust investment account isn't a standard bank account. Because it doesn't have a bank account number, it can't be connected to your bank feed.
Create an asset account in Xero for your First Mortgage PIE Trust investment account
To track your First Mortgage PIE Trust investment in Xero, you'll need to create an asset account.
In Xero, go to Accounting → Advanced → Chart of Accounts.
Select Add Account.
Set the Account Type to Current Asset or Non-current Asset (depending on how you'd like to classify the investment).
Enter an account name, such as First Mortgage PIE Trust Investment.
Add an account code if required by your Xero setup.
Select Save.
Once created, you can link this asset account when connecting your First Mortgage PIE Trust investment account.
Reconcile transfers to your investment account
Once you've created the asset account in Xero, you can reconcile money transferred from your bank account to your First Mortgage PIE Trust investment account.
In Xero, go to Accounting → Bank accounts and open the account the transfer was made from.
On the Reconcile tab, find the transfer transaction.
Select Create.
Select your First Mortgage PIE Trust Investment asset account in the What section.
Enter any reference details and confirm the amount.
Click OK to complete the reconciliation.
This records the movement of funds from your bank account into your investment asset account without recording it as an expense.
