If you'd like to run a contest where you manage payments and payouts yourself, you can create a Private (Self-Managed) contest. These contests are designed for commissioners who prefer to handle entry fees and winnings outside of Splash Sports.
What Is a Private (Self-Managed) Contest?
In short: Splash provides the game experience and tools, while the commissioner collects entry fees and distributes payouts outside the platform. How to Create a Self-Managed Contest
To create a Self-Managed contest:
Start by selecting Create Contest from the main menu
Choose your preferred contest type (Survivor, Pick'em, Bracket, etc.)
During setup, select the Private (Self-Managed) option when prompted
Complete your contest settings and create your contest
Verify the contest type: Go to the Commissioner Tab, click 'Manage' next to the contest, and check for prize payout information. If entry is $0 and there is no prize information, it is a self-managed contest.
Important Notes
Self-Managed contests may include a one-time, per-entry service fee, depending on the contest type
All payments and payouts must be handled outside of Splash Sports
Be sure to clearly communicate payment details and deadlines to your members
Payment is due after the season begins, and a payment link will appear in your Manage Contest page to pay the pool fee.

Some contest formats, such as One and Done: Touchdowns, are only available as Splash-managed and cannot be self-managed.
NFL Survivor pools are only available starting in August, and you can set up or restart your pool once NFL contests open for the season.

Managing Mulligans and Revivals
Configuring Mulligans: During contest setup, you can enable mulligans (Entry Lives) to allow participants to continue after an incorrect pick.
Issuing Revivals: To revive an entrant, go to the Commissioner Tab, select 'Manage' on the contest, navigate to Entrants Manager > Revivals, and click 'Revive' next to the desired entry.
