Missed Pick (No Submission by the Deadline)
The fallback order is:
Bye Pick (if enabled and unused): consumed automatically, entry advances.
Auto Pick (if enabled and under the Maximum Auto Picks cap): the system fills the pick using the strategy.
Otherwise: the entry loses 1 life (eliminated if that was the last one).
Remember: Auto Picks default OFF in Survivor, and there is no Auto Pick Forgiveness.
Cancelled / Postponed / Suspended Games
Postponed, suspended, and cancelled are one state in our system — "cancelled." A game never gets postponed and stays in the same week. ("Delayed" is different — a delayed game still plays and scores normally.)
Cancelled before kickoff: the pick stays editable until the pick deadline — the member just switches to another game. No penalty if they switch. If they don't switch by the deadline, the pick grades as a loss.
Cancelled after kickoff (includes suspended mid-game): the pick is frozen and grades as a loss.
Auto Pick never selects a cancelled game.
The commissioner can modify picks after kickoff to give relief in an edge case — that's the release valve, not a setting.
"I Ran Out of Teams to Pick"
In team-use-capped pools, an entrant can pick themselves into a dead end (especially with multi-pick weeks or pick-against limits). There are no automatic guardrails — this is by design: avoiding dead ends is the skill of Survivor.
The commissioner can always loosen settings mid-season (e.g., raise the Team Use Limit) to get the pool out of a jam. CS should direct affected users to their commissioner.
Tie Games
Graded per the Tie Game Outcome setting — Loss by default, Win if the commissioner chose that. Rare, but always contentious; point users to the contest's settings page.
