NCAAF (CFB) Team Survivor (Private Contests): Commissioner Setup — Pick Format

Core Pick Format Settings

Setting

What It Does

Default

Notes

Pick Type (Objective)

Pick Winners or Pick Losers (loser pool).

Pick Winners

Loser pools invert grading and also flip the Auto Pick strategy options to underdogs.

Display Spreads on Picksheet

Shows spreads for context in Straight Up contests.

On

Informational only — never affects grading.

Bye Pick

Gives each member one "bye" per season — if they miss a pick, the bye is used automatically and they advance that week.

Off

Fully automatic — no opt-in or submission needed. Once the bye is used, further missed picks follow the normal missed-pick flow.

Picks in Advance

Whether members can submit picks for future weeks.

On

When Off, members can only pick the upcoming week. Useful for planning around team-use limits.

Scoring Basis

What it does: Straight Up vs. ATS, and who sets the spread.
Default: Straight Up

Options: Straight Up; Against the Spread (Splash-set); Against the Spread (Commissioner-set)

Spread Lock Time — when Splash-set spreads freeze for the week. Only relevant for Splash-set ATS.

Picks per Week

What it does: How many teams each entry must pick per week.
Default: 1

Options: 1, 2, 3, or 4 every week; or Variable (commissioner designates specific multi-pick weeks)

Multi-Pick Weeks — when Picks per Week is Variable, the commissioner assigns 2/3/4 picks to specific weeks. All picks in a multi-pick week must be correct to advance; losing any costs 1 life total.

Flexible Multi-Picks

What it does: Automatically converts a checkpoint week into a multi-pick week when too many entries are still alive (e.g., "if more than 25% of entries are alive by Week 6, Week 6 becomes 2 picks"). Threshold can be a percentage or an absolute number; multiple rules supported; values allow up to two decimals with a 50% ceiling.

Default: Off

Notes: A brutal, rarely-used setting built for very large pools — expect <10% adoption. Entrants caught off guard by a surprise multi-pick week is a likely ticket theme.

Summary: Pick Type and Scoring Basis set the fundamental rules of the game and rarely change once entrants have joined. Picks per Week and Flexible Multi-Picks are the levers commissioners use to speed up eliminations in large pools.
