Here’s what commissioners should know when setting up an NHL Survivor contest.
Schedule
NHL Survivor contests use weekly slates made up exclusively of games played on Saturdays.
The Start Week defaults to Week 1, or the nearest upcoming slate if the season is already underway.
The End Week defaults to Week 27.
Entry Deadline
The Entry Deadline defaults to the start of the first game of the week.
Commissioners should review their Entry Deadline during contest setup to make sure it works for their group.
Pick Deadline
Commissioners can choose when picks lock each week:
First game of the week, which is the default
Last game of the week
Custom
If Custom is selected, Saturday is the only available lock day and the default lock time is 7:00 PM ET.
Straight Up Picks
NHL Survivor uses straight up game winners.
Entrants select the team they believe will win their matchup. Against the Spread scoring is not available for NHL Survivor, so the Scoring Mode section available for NFL Survivor is not included.
Team Use Limit
The Team Use Limit works the same way as NFL Survivor.
Commissioners can determine how many times an entrant is allowed to select the same NHL team throughout the contest.
Pick Against Team Limit
The Pick Against Team Limit works the same way as NFL Survivor.
This setting allows commissioners to control how many times an entrant can make a Survivor selection against the same NHL team.
Pick Mode and Picks Per Slate
Pick Mode, Picks Per Slate, Flexible Multi Picks, and Bye Pick settings work the same way as NFL Survivor.
Commissioners can use these settings to customize how many selections entrants need to make and how picks are handled throughout the contest.
Entry Lives and Contest Revivals
Entry Lives, Contest Revivals, and Manual Revival work the same way as NFL Survivor.
These settings allow commissioners to customize how eliminations and revival opportunities are handled within their contest.
Autopicks
Autopick settings work the same way as NFL Survivor.
Commissioners can configure how missed selections should be handled within their contest settings.
Picksheet Setup
NHL is automatically selected in Picksheet Setup and cannot be changed.
The NHL schedule is automatically imported into the contest, so commissioners do not need to manually configure the available games.
Eligible Game Days
There is no Eligible Game Days setting for NHL Survivor.
NHL weekly slates are automatically limited to games played on Saturdays, so commissioners do not need to select which days should appear on the picksheet.
Tie Game Outcomes
There is no Tie Game Outcome setting for NHL Survivor.
NHL games do not end in ties. Overtime and, when necessary, a shootout determine the winner, so a separate tie handling setting is not needed.
Playoff Reset
Playoff Reset options for Team Use and Pick History are not available for NHL Survivor.
These settings do not apply to the NHL contest structure.
Tiebreakers
Most Survivor tiebreaker options remain available and work the same way as NFL Survivor.
The following tiebreakers are not available for NHL Survivor:
Combined Spread
Closest to Championship Total
These options are based on spreads or points and do not apply to straight up NHL Survivor contests.
Other Survivor Settings
Entrant Groups and the Design tab work the same way as NFL Survivor.
Once your settings are configured, you can continue through the setup process and invite entrants to join your NHL Survivor contest.
